You made lots of good points, and I think here we may have differences in culture. Since you live in the UK, and I live in Texas. I do see that more often where I live. We have a lot of conservative christians here trying to make this the 1950's again.

It doesn't have to be that a woman can only be hot or strong/intelligent, just one or the other, when it can easily be BOTH, which always makes for the more compelling character.
It's the combination of BOTH physical sexiness and her personality/attitude that makes Lara so attractive. If either weaken too much then lots of Lara's appeal is lost. Things like wit, courage and intellegence do add so much towards Lara's sexiness. It is though undenyable that Lara's curves count towards it too. To show other sides to Lara you don't have to take away her sexuality and incorporating sexuality properly and in a tasteful way really enriches the character.

I appreciate both beauty and brains. It's nonsense to deliberately suppress one of those just because it's PC.
Think you are spot on with what you are saying Driber and love your frankness on the issue.

For me supporting a more curvy figure is supporting Lara's look built up over 15 years. What do you have so much against larger breasts?

The issue, to me, is not actually one of breast size at all. It's about what we each think Lara looks like and how much we think that should be deviated from.

Lara has always had brown hair, brown eyes and a certain body shape that has been refined from 'cartoon' to 'more real' over the years, without ever sacrificing that essential curvaceousness.

If new character 'Sara Croft' is a blue eyed blonde with small boobs and a generally stocky build, no-one will care. She'd be a new character and that'd be that.

If Lara were to be re-imagined as a blue eyed blonde with small boobs and a generally stocky build, however, none of us would be happy, would be? Because we all know what Lara looks like, and that's not her.

As others have said, the issue is not one of beauty or sexiness or anything like that. It is simply that whatever else is changed for the new games, Lara needs to look like Lara.

Perhaps "beauty" was a slightly wrong choice of words in that particular sentence if you really want to be nit-picky

I meant the issue at hand - sex appeal / physical sexiness.

I thought the gist of my post made that clear already

Alright all ya boob & sex appeal loving guys out there, I have just received official confirmation that CD is going to reboot this reboot. To cater to people's wishes, the new TR game has been completely scrapped and they are going to continue the story as a whole new franchise and seriously sex her up, to please the male fan base.

Actually, I forgot that all countries and cultures don't have the same views so ta for bringing that up.

And yeah, I suppose the UK isn't that bad of a place, considering. I mean nearly everything is accepted over here; the idea of being Gay (where in some countries they arrest people for it) and I genuinely completely forgot that in some countries and cultures as well, they aren't as lenient (want of better word) to allow women to be equal to men...

Therefore I guess there is still that 'stereotype' to break... just not so much in places like the UK.

But I guess they don't really need overly sex her up... but I also think I'm on a way different track to everyone in here!

@Driber - C'mon that's not a real game... is it?

See from a female point of view, playing as a male video game character, I'm not out to hope or make sure the guy I'm playing as is shirtless and super muscular to the point where you have to wonder if those muscles aren't photoshopped. I know the character is animated but I hope you get my point. I focus on the character and not necessarily the sex appeal.

So Blonde is actually a very good game, though it has some drawbacks here and there.

I actually wrote a fairly detailed review of it, once, should anyone be interested.

Months afterwards, what I mainly remember is how much I enjoyed it rather than any annoyances, though, which has to be a good thing.

Lol :P I kinda liked it. Never really liked the old Chris, but I thought he was okay in RE5.

Though Jill totally kicked his ass

First Chris Redfield looks much cuter imo

I like any character as long as they've been well thought out. And as for smexifying males, I don't really see male characters as "ooooh, I'd do him if he were real". Honestly. (e.g. Nathan Drake doesn't appeal to me. Neither does Altair or the Prince from Prince of persia.) Then again it's always more appealing to the eye to have a beautiful character to play as, especially if you're staring at their backside the entire time. So fantasy beautiful clothes, or beautiful characters usually pull it off.

Same here. My favourite Adventure Game series, in fact

Annoyed at the company for the mess over the last one that only works on single core computers, though...

Woah! That guy's been hitting the weights a bit! And the steroids... !!!

Yeah. Although Capcom, from what I've heard didn't make him 'sexier' to appeal to anyone, it's just the perceived view that the Japanese (or around that region of our brilliant world) see all the Western folk as being that... yeah I bet some will be disappointed if they come to visit. So unlike Lara, I guess it's a different case.

You've got Lara that if she's sexed up it's usually more deliberate to acquire the eye of us males whereas Capcoms decision was based more on a stereotype I suppose. But I guess it's all the same thing.

@Elliot Kane - I think there'd be a few blokes that wouldn't mind his secret, ha.

@LARALOVERnr.1 - Jill did steal the show, although to fit in with this discussion they changed Jill a bit... so in Lara's case I guess it was inevitable:

@Ants
Well, they made her blonde, but other than that, I don't think they changed her that much, other than her outfit.

Although...

They did make her Wesker's *... :P

EDIT: Oh wait, this is still the Lara's Body thread. Right... :P

Last comment: She looks great, with or without watermelons.
