Relaunch =/= Reboot.

So.. they say WB is going to continue Batman Movies after TDKR.
Do you think they'll reboot it over and over? I personally think they should do like the 007 franchise. Like, have a general continuity you fallow loosely, but have more contained, precise continuities for each actor you use. Drawing stories largely from fan favorite story arcs and graphic novels. Interchange directors here and there to keep the styles fresh. BAM! Perfect formula. |

They pretty much said that they're going to. Take a look at their response to question 7 of this interview:

But.. yeah, idk. ![]() ![]() Wait, never mind, I guess Toynami (whoever they are) made em.. Hmm?.. they look rather nice though, eh? |

Yeah, those are from the Cinemaquette line from Toynami. Check them out if you want at Cinemaquette.com I'll warn you though, if you think Hot Toys are expensive, then those'll probably blow your mind (I.E. 2 grand for the Batmobile,1.5 for the batwing). Plus those are 1/8 scale. When HT shows theirs, expect it to be about 3 ft long, and between 4-600 bucks.

Mean!
Green Lantern franchise is already confirmed to continue "months" not a year like "One Year Later" was, so yeah while some minor characters are gonna get changes such as costume alternations and whatnot, story wise i doubt we're gonna see major changes to Flash, Batman and Green Lantern which is the current "trinity" of DC. Poor Superman and Wonder Woman do need some help, luckily Grant Morrison is taking on a Superman ongoing and i'm very intriqued by Brian Azzarello taking on Wonder Woman. |

I'm really curious about Morrison's Superman. After reading the pitch for Superman by he, Mark Waid, Mark Millar, and Tom something, I really want to see that happen. I know that All-Star utilized some of it, but it just sounded really awesome.

brb, going to watch TDK on Bluray.
Edit: GAAHHHH. Why is that movie so long?! Anyway.. I think I discovered something. Lucius: 'Should Do Fine Against Cats' Mike Engel: (Reading the Joker's message) 'Come night fall this city is mine.' Night fall? As in.. Knightfall? Did Nolan really give us a hint at Bane as well as Catwoman? Last edited by JackWinz; 06-04-2011 at 11:35 PM. |

Don't forget Batman Begins had ninjas, a prison and a toxin.. All a masterplan for the inevitable 3rd movie.
![]() Here's Batman #1 cover: ![]() The artist said there is a reason for the questionmark Mohawk since the internet exploded at it, but man is it sweet to see Pyg in the cover. |

Whats the difference between a relaunch and a reboot?

Reboot is pretty much discarding the previous continuity and starting fresh with changes. Relaunching Green Lantern for example happens months after the event War of the Green Lanterns thats going on right now, now my assumption is that DC isn't going to wait 14 more months for Morrison to finish his story, so they are setting up the status quo back to normal and allowing Morrison to finish his story, thats the easiest way to do this since Inc's conclusion (according to Morrison) was going to put things back to "normal". I mean Inc wouldn't had even happened if Morrison hadn't come up with it and we would have had Batman "back to normal" about 7 months ago.
![]() Some characters might get enough changes to call it a reboot, so yeah we could say a "soft reboot" will happen here and there, but it's not like Geoff Johns is just gonna ignore what he did with Aquaman on Blackest Night, Brightest Day and Flashpoint. ![]() Nightwing #1 cover: ![]() Chris O'Donnel meets Batman Beyond meets Renegade costume meets TDK-realism armor vibe. Unsure about his red glowing eyes, but the rest is cool.

Nightwing having a red and black colour scheme is a neat idea and a nice way of building off his past as Robin.

Well, I don't know how far along the Flashpoint series is, or if it's running in a separate thing from this reboot/relaunch/need-to-boost-sales thing, or not, but Batman has red eyes here, too.
From the colorist's profile working on the series, found here on DA: http://sinccolor.deviantart.com/#/d3g9wol

IGN has some Batman news: Batman and Robin #1 is a new volume written by Peter J Tomasi and Patrick Gleason from their Green Lantern Corps fame, whats new is that it's Bruce and Damian, because yeah "Nightwing and Robin" does not have the same power of marketing value and interesting as the iconic "Batman and Robin". I think today's audience can dig the idea of a grim Batman and grim Robin, because you also have to consider Jason wasn't just hated for being darker, he wa simply disliked and not accepted to be Dick's heir. IGN says we'll get the Inc news tonight, thats good, it should mean Morrison is allowed to finish his run while everything has been relaunched back to normal already.
