Well, they're the same as the AA ears.

Yeah, but AA Batman has a taller body and a smaller head so he doesn't look top heavy.

After looking it over, I see what you mean. My initial thought was that you were saying the entire head looks disproportionate,it doesn't, but when I see the forehead/cranium in comparison to the bottom half, he seems a little eggheaded. Needless to say, check out the link beneath the pics, tons of information on the making of the suit. With this thing on your side, you'd win every Comic-Con costume contest around.

But people in real life are not 8 1/2 heads tall, or comic proportionate. That's just the way it goes.

Yup.

An important things to learn as an artist is that taking figures wholecloth from photographs or real life will only lead to trouble because the proportions won't look right (especially photographs, as the lenses in cameras will screw with the foreshortening). I think that can be adapted to many other things, including costume design. Things need to be altered to fit the medium and Batman's ears are one of those things. They make his head look taller which makes the rest of his body seem shorter and thus makes him look dumpy.

I don't see that at all. If you'd read the link, they talk about proportioning it for the real world.

USA Today article on Detective Comics
Detective Comics #1 preview

"Forget about it, Joker. You can't run. I own the night" Oh Daniel, never stop with the cheesy action liners, i really dig them lol.

Daniel's aim with the book:
Quote:
"It allows me to do some edgier stories," he says. "We're concentrating on serial killers and real bad guys in Gotham City— the scum of the earth — so I get to have a really good film-noir vibe going on with the character: dark, gritty, intense story lines that wouldn't have felt right with the more superhero-y Batman comic."
It seems Detective Comics aswell will begin with an 5 years past story arc:
Quote:
Bruce Wayne has been dressing up as a bat as Gotham City's secret vigilante for half a decade, and the police want to shut him down. Batman has an ally in Commissioner Gordon, but the cop needs to keep his relationship on the down low, Daniel says. "He knows he needs Batman's help because Gotham City's one of the most corrupt cities in the land of comics. He needs all the help he can get."The city mayor is hot to arrest Batman ASAP and blames Batman's increasing popularity among regular citizens for the introduction of new villains flocking to Gotham and wanting to make a name for themselves.

The Joker graces the cover of Detective Comics No. 1, and Batman's arch-nemesis also appears in the issue, as crazy as ever. But there's someone even higher up in the underworld than he is, namely the Dollmaker.

For example, Daniel's Batcave that appears in Detective Comics is much different from what we've seen recently. So far, what he's drawn is basically a dark cave and a couple of computers — no dinosaur, Joker playing card or a giant Lincoln penny in the trophy room just yet.

If they had then the ears wouldn't have been as huge.

Even in-game, the ears are larger than his head. They proportioned them correctly.

No they haven't because in-game his body is proportionately larger than a real life human's body. Keeping the same proportions of the ears doesn't work, they just make his head look huge in full body shots (they look perfectly normal in shots of just the cowl). If they had actually proportioned the ears to go with the whole body they'd be shorter as well and would be in porportion with his body instead of looking huge.

I'm starting to get what you're saying. When I saw pics of the guy, they looked a little big, but then I see pics like the first and last(Just the cowl) and I'd think it looks fine. Why is it that it appears different when worn, than when displayed?

The first shot is looking up at the suit and foreshortening and perspective make the head and ears shorter.

When the shot is just of the cowl it looks fine because the ratio between the ears and the head is probably the same as it is in the game. When you can see the rest of the body it looks disproportionate because the head is relatively bigger, but when the head is on its own theres nothing to put it in scale so the ears look "right".

The head is basically the measuring stick of human proportions. The costume (when worn by that guy at least, they said its adjustable for more body types) is around 6 heads tall including the ears. The actual game model is more like 7.5-8 heads tall. When redoing the proportions for the game's costume to fit a real human the ears have to be adjusted as well because in the game them being half a head tall is not nearly as large as them being half a head tall in real life. In the game they're approx. 1/16th of the total height but on that real life suit they're more like 1/12th of the total height.

So as a display piece the cowl alone is freaking awesome, its perfect to the game. But as a costume or with the entire suit on display the ears look out of proportion.

Either way, I agree that I'd also love to see them tackle more suits and I'd still love to own this one. Maybe they can do an alternate all-black cowl, cape, etc., also

Actually, if you read the link, they talk about how their goal was to make it reflect and absorb light the way the game's does, so it may appear black in some light sources, but blue in others. Anyway, this suit + Jon Hamm+an awesome director=my dream Batman movie.

Yeah, my ultimate goal would be to own two, one for myself, and another with a black paintjob as a display piece, so that I can have an AA/AC Bruce Wayne head custom made for it. (Here's hoping that RS shows us in-game Wayne this time around.)

So what should I buy if I want to watch the original trilogy (yes, I have never watched them)?
