The falling S Symbol clearly confirms us that Batman has to fight and triumph over Superman as he falls, but Batman rises to the heavens as Batgod the supreme.

Anyone else think the character of Toxin is more interesting than both Carnage and Venom? Hes a cop whos possessed by a symbiote (Carnage's offspring) at its birth and it sort of ruins his life but hes determined to be a hero and repels against the young symbiote's natural urges. I think thats leagues better than a reporter who hates Spider-Man and a crazy guy whos crazy for the sake of crazy. I'd like to read more about this character.

I remember reading up on him a year or two ago. I think he's a pretty cool character. I'm pretty sure he's had some sweet team ups with Spiderman as well.

Anyone picking up Ultimate Fallout tomorrow?

Anyone decided on what (if any) upcoming Ultimate Marvel books they're getting?

Ultimate Comics The Ultimates and Ultimate Comics X-Men sound like they could be good but apparently Ultimate Comics Hawkeye ties into them both a fair bit and I have no interest in that. As for Spider-Man.... trade wait for sure.

Just because you aren't a man enough to appreciate the gifts of god such as Robot Unicorn Attack, doesn't mean i can't try and show you the true path of the ultimate warrior.

@Ben: You could also trade wait for Hawkeye, since it's gonna be akin to Ultimate Thor, it's Hawkeye at his finest while also giving more details to his criminal past.

Arkham City Robin in color

I still think it would have been better if he was named Jason Todd. I don't mind the lack of green, but i'm happy this is just another final nail to the coffin that Robin does play a role in the story one way or another, i mean it had to be so after we learned he has his own unique model and move sets.

I'm hoping that the lack of green here is just due to the lighting, or something and maybe Robin will have it still like he does in the concept art. We'll see. He still has that red stripe on his pants, but it's also almost not visible here.

Not very impressed by Robin's colour scheme but oh well.

And I don't know if I can ever read about Ultimate Hawkeye. His character has been permanently tainted to me by Ultimates 3.

Oh, and Grant Morrison talks shop about Action Comics:

Quote:
What have you got lined up in your writing for Superman?

I want to solve some of the problems that have grown up around the character. People now ask: ‘Why the hell would he dress up like that?’ I want to make Superman a more contemporary character. We’ll be changing how he looks, dresses and behaves. He’ll be more like the Superman who appeared in 1938 – more socially active and a champion of the oppressed.

He’s taken his underpants off in the current comics...

With what we’re doing he’s wearing jeans and a T-shirt – a Bruce Springsteen version of Superman, that’s the angle we’re taking. The cape’s still indestructible but the rest is picked up in a shop.

What are you proudest of getting into a comic book?

I’m proud of having Bruce Wayne stumbling through the streets of Gotham high on heroin. When the baddies get hold of Batman and really mess him up, that’s always fun. When I grew up, the comics I loved were by hippies in the late 1960s, which had a big effect on me when I was 12. I’ve always written for an imaginary smart 15-year-old. I’m introducing younger kids to big ideas and to authors and notions. Spanish writer Jorge Luis Borges was in the last Batman story I wrote so I’ve hopefully introduced his work to some new people.

Do some fans take things a bit too far?

There was one guy in the US who was ready to kill everyone in the office when I was working for Marvel. The FBI got involved and locked him up. It was about something in an X-Men comic. I didn’t write it but it drew on stuff I’d created and we’d done something to ruin the purity of his favourite childhood character. I wouldn’t want to tar all fans with that – you get all sorts, from people who write clever analysis to some real nutters.
Some new pics from The Amazing Spider-Man:

I'm still baffled and disappointed by the costume's design. The colours are great and Garfield wears it perfectly but why the hell did they with the design so much?

Emma Stone looks pitch perfect as Gwen though.

They have old school web shooters, on a completely new, weird costume. That's Hollywood for you. Go figure...

I'll post anew, since no-one has posted a reply in a day. This is too epic, though, and must be shared

http://www.kbiii.com/putschracing/?p=50

Quote:
Putsch Racing has taken on an lofty design exercise to create and build the world’s only turbine powered Batmobile. Taking the the fantasy of the 1989 original and making it reality is just the start, but there is one catch, no movie sound effects or audio overlays. The lines of the vehicle along with the original movie sketches support a trubine powerplant, but was never intended to truly deliver that level of authenticity.

Powered by a Boeing turbine engine from a decommissioned military helicopter. Putsch Racing has taken the fantasy of movie magic and the power from what was once used to protect our country and combined them into an excercise that inspires bigger dreams and opens creativity.
Man, how awesome? I am sure the price of fuel for that thing, alone, would break most anyone's bank, though. Heh

Edit: video, for the ADD crowd:

What happens when the World’s Greatest Detective takes on the world’s most powerful alien? You’ll find out when Batman and Superman throw down. Batman will need all his intellect, cunning and physical prowess to take on The Man of Steel.
Two-Face's Black & White promo shot is unbelievably cool! also check out the official homepage for Batman Year One it has this really epicly awesome (yeah see i even used the word epic!) song on autoloop that works wonderfully.

PS. Oh and Ben what did you think about Ultimate Avengers conclusion?

Gotta love a 7 week gap between Justice League releases.

And I haven't grabbed Ultimate Avengers yet. Hoping to get that today along with Ultimate Fallout and maybe a few issues of Jonah Hex.

Here's how the Justice League #1 begins as Geoff Johns has told us, but hey pretty art:

Is anyone else reminded of All Star Batman and Robin when they see this? I can't be the only one, but yeah Johns said the comic begins with Hal Jordan asking what are Batman's powers and whatnot. Then in #2 they meet Superman and we know from Johns that Green Lantern will check out Superman as he's the sector's guardian and Superman is an alien, but honestly how can that ever end up in a "fight" i mean in a DC world it would go like this:

Batman & GL: So who are you really Superman?
Superman: A friend.

Batman: Okay theres this ancient evil menace, can you help us?
Superman: Absolutely, friend.
Batman: Wonderf.... *Batman gets possessed by the curse of Batfans*
Batman: I'm the god damn Batman, blaaa blaa blaa whaa wha my paaaareeeeeeeeeeeeeeents
*Batman jumps at Superman*
Superman: Ah you so cute when you're mad, oh yes you are!

Really i can't see any bigger pay offs with this unless Johns wants to show how paranoid Batman became the best friends with every Leaguer Batman in the 2nd arc.

I too am reminded of ASBAR. The fact that they're both drawn by Jim Lee makes it worse, though I'll still read the first arc of the book.

Definitely similar to ASBAR. When is that coming again? Close to never, right?

It would be cool if the first panel was a shot of Aquaman, just like it was in the JL's first ever appearance.

So, someone in Asia has seen the Hot Toys Jack Nicholson Joker, and I've also heard that both he and Michael Keaton Batman will be shown during the San Diego Comic-Con.

The dope who runs my LCS closed up early today so I couldn't get my book.

Not the first time this has happened either.

In other news, I've been taking stock of what trades to buy and I've decided on four series:

Ultimate Spider-Man - The whole run
Jonah Hex, Volume 2 - The whole run
Marvel Masterworks: Amazing Spider-Man - The first four volumes
Hulk Visionaries: Peter David - The first six books.

I did a little poking around and realized that at a release schedule of one every 12 months at the fastest it would take another 10 years(!!!) to get the PAD Hulk run entirely collected. So instead of geting the whole thing I'm just going to focus on the Grey Hulk years, which are covered in the first six trades as thats the period I'm really interested in.

I also want to own every bit of Garth Ennis' Punisher up until the end of his MAX run. That includes Punisher Kills The Marvel Universe, Welcome Back, Frank, the Knights run and the MAX run plus Born and Beginning to Last. Getting the Knights run and Kills The Universe are going to be tricky and probably fairly expensive.

Are you gonna scavange hunt for those hardcovers or getting all those smaller trades? I'm personally just waiting here for Marvel to release more Ultimate collections, patience is virtue!

Interesting, thanks for informing me. Grey Hulk does seem the like a very interesting incarnation of the character.

Welcome Back Frank has a softcover published, the Kills the Universe story is collected in a hardcover for Welcome back Frank, you should check out if the softcover has it too.
