Red Robin looks ok... the whole vibe is a little too 90s for me.

Superboy totally reminded me of this douchey promo pic from Lois & Clark:

Ugh, I can't believe they're giving Superboy an S tattoo...

No offense to anyone with tattoos, but I've been over the tattoo and piercing culture now for over 15 years of seeing it overtake ... everyone. I don't like them, and I hoped to have at least some bastions out there immune to seeing them donned with them, one of them at least being the superheroes I actually like not promoting them.

I guess that's just too much to ask because we've got to up the "hip" and "cool" factor, no matter the cost.

Eh, forget it.

How can a kryptonian have a tattoo anyway?

All-Star Western #1:

Even when Gotham City was just a one-horse town, crime was rampant – and things only get worse when bounty hunter Jonah Hex comes to town. Can Amadeus Arkham, a pioneer in criminal psychology, enlist Hex’s special brand of justice to help the Gotham Police Department track down a vicious serial killer? Featuring back-up stories starring DC’s other western heroes, ALL-STAR WESTERN #1 will be written by the fan-favorite Jonah Hex team of Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti and illustrated by Moritat.

Thats really awesome.

New Superman should go find his old costume.

Actually, no. The colors are way, way too dark and muted; the belt is way too far down, with that modern bend to the belt, almost looking feminine and like they had in Superman Returns. It has the same unnecessary lines added, suggesting the costume is segmented and padded/armored. The boots are a little different, but they're the least offensive thing about the costume. Beyond the costume, his physique, again like Superman Returns, is very slim, male model-like, and I still think he looks kind of Asian in the face. I hat the hair.

I still have yet to read this story, so I might actually like it once I do. I am just going off of visuals for both of these.

I sure sound grumpy today Sorry about that, but I wish they'd stop trying to "fix" Superman. Make better stories, but leave the look alone.

I meant it looks awesome compared to the new suit.

Now is that really a tattoo or in this take Lex Luthor (you know, his mother!) putted a prison bar code on him? Honestly he can't really keep a secret identity with a tattoo like that, noway at all.

Still Red Robin looks much more unique now and nomore condom helm! Also here's Superboy #1 cover.

The guy writing Teen Titans is also on Superboy and Red Hood & the Outlaws, so what is Superboy a cyborg and a clone? Is he a Brainiac creation now? Or did.. I don't know, it's a wait and see situation.

Haha it's like someone read Return of Bruce Wayne and loved the idea of Hex in Gotham, it is a good idea tho maybe also kinda cash-in thing? Granted some Bat influence to get people reading a good book isn't all that bad, it's a good initial hook and the quality writing make speople stay.

But yeah this relaunch line is seriously looking amazing.

I know what you meant, Ben. But both costumes are about the same level of crap to me, heh

On the plus side, I do like Red Robin with the feathers. That's really cool. I also liked the Jonah Hex thing, especially the art of it.

Honestly, it's the more unknown characters that have me excited for the relaunch. All-Star Westerns looks awesome, and I'm curious about the new Sgt.Rock book. Superman's suit looks like a giant red and blue turd. Superboy looks even worse. Frankly, I just wish DC would've just left well enough alone. This relaunch looks stupid as hell for the most part.

Did you come from the Bizarro world? DC comics are so much talked right now and you got this huge excitment for August that needs to be kept hyped with alot of actual promotion (tho i honestly do believe they should start collecting softcovers to wall-mart and other stores akin to wall-mart and target) but from a writer standpoint they have given more ground to Scott Snyder, the rising star Kyle Higgins, Paul Cornell and Grant Morrison & Geoff Johns are maintaining some books such as Johns on Aquaman that will certainly only go upwards, you got new fresh breathe to DC universe as the Wildstorm universe is put in the same universe alongside Vertigo characters such as Swamp Thing, it's a brand new day that can really set a new age for DC comics.

Only real flaw with these countless redesigns is that how will DC except the audience to see them as iconic as... Well the actually iconic ones. DC animated cartoons and movies will have their own designs, and so will the movies, now granted it seems Batman's being inspired by the movies but what happens if Superman and Wonder Woman get these new costumes? The new Wonder Woman tv show was bashed left and right for it's campy tune and fans we're outraged by the alternate costume, yet for some reason the 1st episode did have the classic costume too, so.. I don't know, my point stands: How much worth was there in the effort to give new "iconic" looks and what are the odds they do become actually iconic?

Thats my 2 cents on the matter, i do hope everyone gets to see a comic they might be interested, for example i am all in for Demon Knights #1:

Paul Cornell interview

Anyhow look what they did to Harley Quinn:

Makes me want the Arkham City design lol.

I'm happy about the relaunch, I'm just not too happy with many of the redesigns. I just don't see a point to it except to make things "modern" and "realistic", but what that actually equates to is making it look like it was designed in the 90s.

Don't get me wrong, I like the talent they're bringing in, but from a design standpoint, it looks like one of Rob Liefeld's wet dreams. Everything looks like it's from a really bad Top Cow crossover, and to be honest, it seems like DC is pulling the same stuff as Nintendo in that they're alienating their core audience in favor of a casual one.

Teen Titans...more like Teen Toolbags.

48 of the 52 titles have been announced.

The four who haven't are Superman, Action Comics, Supergirl and Superboy. I was hoping for a Question book starring Vic Sage.

It's strange how Red Robin seemingly isn't getting his own ongoing, i mean no offense to Question but Tim Drake has managed to hold his own title better, thats the power of Batmania. Also hey a nice drawing of Rasputin, oh it's Alan Moore actually.

Yeah its weird that Tim has been relegated to a team book while Barbara Gordon has been decrippled and given her own book.

Yeah, ah well tomorrow we finally get the Superman news, kinda anxious whenever or not Grant Morrison truly is on Action Comics since CBR was already wrong about Teen Titans, meep!

PS. If you look closely to Alan Moore's beard you can notice Frank Quitely has written Moore's books such as "From Hell" onto it, thats cool.

Haha Alan Moore that crazy bastard. Good drawing of him.

And I do think Morrison is on Action Comics. What else would be he busy with?

DC blog says this:
Quote:
A new era of DC Comics begins as the longest-running monthly comic of all time releases its first issue #1 since 1938.

This September, New York Times bestselling writer Grant Morrison (ALL-STAR SUPERMAN) joins with sensational artist Rags Morales to bring you tales of The Man of Tomorrow unlike any you’ve ever read before in ACTION COMICS #1. This momentous first issue will set in motion the history of the DC Universe as Superman defends a world that doesn’t trust their first Super Hero.

The first Action Comics #1 is now the most sought-after comic book of all time. This September, one of comics’ most imaginative storytellers will make history again in Grant Morrison and Rags Morales’ ACTION COMICS #1.
So i guess it's gonna focus on his early years, but not in the way to make it an origin story, so key stuff like Superman existing and already working at the Daily Planet are there, thats how i see it really. They can always re-use All Star Superman #1 1st page?
