Hello, thank you in advance for your help...I just built a new gaming rig....MSI gtx 580, 4 gigs corsair , AMD 965 black edition and a ASUS Nforce 980a mobo and a 750 watt PS...(just in short what im running)...I have a fresh install of WIN 7 64 bit...the problem Im having is ...and this is a totally random problem just with Just Cause 2 (Steam version)....Ill start Just Cause 2, get into the game, and sometimes it will lock the screen, and go to a black screen. I can play maybe 2 minutes and this happens...sometimes 15...sometimes it wont happen at all. I just got 2 new sticks of memory, and the problem persists...any guess what it could be? I was thinking it could be driver related to the GTX 580. I did notice one time, there was a message pertaining to the driver, and something about the kernal stopped responding? It was something to that extent. All of the parts I have are brand new, with no overclocking at all. Thank you again, have a good day

Nope....still same stuff.....freezes for 2-3 seconds....black screen...but can still hear in game sounds/music....
i will paypal someone a reward if they can tell me a solution to this problem...last thing Im going to try is swapping PCI-E slots...maybe (this is a longshot) the IRQ thats sharing it with this PCI-E slot is conflicting (I have a 980a Nvidia chipset)...

I'm having the same problem. It's definitely something to do with the video card. I really hope somebody fixes it soon, because I can't go much longer without my just cause 2 fix.

Hi, i also got a gtx580 and i've been having the same problem for a while now, the drivers just crash randomly.
The same exact crash happens aswell when i play crysis and warhead in dx10 mode, if i play those in dx9 it doesn't happen. Well, Just Cause 2 doesn't support dx9 so there's nothing i can do about it. I would say this is a driver/dx10 related problem because all my dx9 and dx11 games run just fine (these include metro 2033 on very high). It would be awsome if someone could find a solution to this. Thank you. |

Hi, i think i might have found a fix (at least seemed to work for me), all i did was turn off "Motion blur" in the display settings and managed to play for 1 hour without crashes.
I tested this by turning it on, the drivers crashed not 2 mins later, then i turned it off and it didn't crash. Please try this and let me know if it worked. |

Same issue, running a single GTX 580 on a 1250w EVO Galaxy supply. Initially suspected some kind of power issue as I have a few quirks with other games, but a lot of multimeter testing on my power supply rails reveled absolutely rock solid supply. Again switching off motion blur fixed the issue.
