I noticed an option for dialogue subtitles in the leaked preview build, but not an option for full closed captioning (transcription of sounds other than the dialogue). Has this has been changed in the final build?

REAL customer care shouldn't depend on how great or small a group of potential customers is - especially when it's technically so easy to satisfy these customers!

Anyway - if they don't respond to appeals from people like me I've decided to buy my German or UK version used on Amazon Marketplace .

Can't understand why you'd do that. Not only are there always things that can't be fully translated, but English to me at least seems the esthetically superior language, especially but not only when it comes to the acustics, wors like might or filth whichs' meaning you can already guess by hearing them.

There are often considerably more resources dedicated to casting and recording for the English language, especially given that the primary market for this game is English-speaking gamers. A significant part of the game is set in cities where English is common, and the game itself was written primarily in English. Obviously not everyone can speak English well enough to understand the plot, but may still be able to appreciate the voice acting or the setting while using subtitles in their native language.

Source on that? We only know that the game supports different languages, but as it looks like, we CAN'T mix them. Changing the language on steam usually changes the WHOLE game to that language, no mix and matching.

Am afraid its single language single subtitles.. No mixing of your own choosing..

Polish will get english subtitles (as there is no polish voices)
Japanese has got a choice of english or japanese text i believe..

However theres no German voice, english text option etc. as far as i am aware

That really sucks i hate when they translate the game to another language like spanish -.- Is always very badly done, i dont know why they spend money doing all the voices translation when they could simply just translate the text! :S

It's possible to open the resource files of the leaked preview build using an unofficial tool developed for Tomb Raider: Underworld called BigFileTool, although in it's current state it's extremely cumbersome due to the lack of filenames. The developer of this tool has fairly recently stopped development due to lack of interest, but it's interesting to know that there is at least some framework out there to potentially allow editing the sound files / subtitles and create new translations (such mods exist for Tomb Raider: Underworld).

like rokstrombo said. i like the english voice acting much more and imho you get the atmosphere and such things much better BUT still my english isnt good enough to understand some special words and stuff

thats why german subtitles would be good for me, so if i dont understand something i can just take a look what he meant in the subtitle

so you can actually set subtitles on for most languages, but only for the same language? thats how i understood that post.

would id be a great effort to just enable different subtitle languages?

I ordered the so called EU-Version of this game here in germany (for XBOX360).

Can anyone confirm that the EU-Version ist Multi-Language FIGS? I heard that the XBOX360 Version has only one language on Board. Is that only for the english version?

The only thing you can do is: Via steam change language (the whole game changes language) and from within the game, activate or disable subtitles, which will automatically have the same language as the game.

I pre ordered the UK CE. I would like to dl German language files, too.
Is there an option in steam to only dl the files to my hd without changing the game itself? :-)

EU is FIGS, UK is English only. These are the only two versions of the game in Europe on consoles.

In Germany you will get German/French to my knowledge. There are French/English and Spanish/Italian versions, too!

That is true for PS3, 360 is 1 language per disc.

So to be clear US PS3 has English, French and Spanish on its disc, UK PS3 is just English, EU PS3 is French, Italian, Spanish and German.

Which platform are you referring to?

PC languages were split up purely for disc distribution (due to size) but all languages available to all pc players once installed. On disc its English alone (UK), French alone, German alone, Spanish and Italian, Russian and Polish, and English and French (US master).
