Soul reaaver 1 sound problem pc PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Whenever I pause the game (and while playing) the ambient noise or some other sound is still playing or will not stop. For example: the whoosh sound whenever you kill an enemy sometimes will not stop so I hear an annoying whoosh sound that makes it impossible for me to hear the music or voices of the characters. PLEASE HELP ME!

I installed the 1.2 patch and the unofficial patch. It runs very smoothly and I got it to work with a gamepad with joy2key. I've spent all day working on it only to get an audio glitch which makes the character voices inaudible.

I am running Vista 64 bit, and my audio I can choose from is: Primary Sound Driver, Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio), and Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio)

I tried all 3 and with no avail, the 2nd choice kinda helps and the third choice mutes the game.

Please help me! I beat blood omen 1 and its disappointing that I bought this game only to have the sound crap out on me.

I don't know if this will help anyone but when I alt-tab out of the game these constant ambient noises still continue to play. Maybe I need to convert the audio files or open them with some kind of audio player.

I figured out the glitch is only with the "Sound" option, the voice and music are both fine.
