Thanks guys, I had to confirm here as oppose to just visiting the Gamestop Order page.

Hmm, it looks ok, definitely different from the Deux 1 cover, but much better than the flashy MTV Invisible War cover.

I can already associate that image with waiting in line at the midnight launch at the Gamestop store in March.

Because the top one is all about looking cool... but the bottom one focuses on the face and gives the impression that Jensen is staring thoughtfully at something, kinda shifts focus to eyes that aren't there.

Having the shades on makes him appear more alien and trans-humanist, while the shades off helps to bring out his humanity.

Finally something I definitely like about this game apart from the music... the box art is friggin' awesome.

EDIT: BUT, a perfect one would have the shades on.

I like how they both have the consistant chiaroscuro lighting with dark around the edges and the candlelit effect but I prefer the simplicity of the Augmented Edition, the pose in the regular one and the glass shards remind me of a Bond movies credits or something.

I would have chosen something a little more obscure, similar to the first game. There are still a lot of people out there not yet acquainted with Adam Jensen, and seeing him on the front of regular edition walking onto the box like a runway model may put some people off. Or not. From an artists perspective, I don't see it attracting a whole lot of attention, or reactions like "Hmm..." or "Wow, that looks interesting." However, the AE is an improvement.

One of the things the devs have emphasized from the start is their desire to create a lead character with an "iconic" image... similar to other Eidos mainstays like Mr. 47 or Lara Croft.

Taken in light of this it's quite obvious why they did it this way.

It also leads me to believe that Jensen may be a protagonist for more than one game should any sequels come out.

Hm. How would continuity work with permanent aug choices? Import saves ala Mass Effect?

He'll get captured and chopped up at the start of the next game and then dumped outside Detroit Police Station. Just like Robocop 2!

EMP blasts, aug rot, rejection issues, new hardware mounting standards or just the usual trope of unavoidable explosion, gunfights, workplace accidents and other such things. Since Adam relies on mechanical things instead of personal skills it is much easier to start off with a clean slate.

That's all fine but, this:

Is not "iconic." It's cheesy. Looks like the poster for a B action movie, and this is something a lot of consumers will pick up on. Like it or not, people judge games by their cover. Not trying to be negative. Just being honest here.

1: The Powers That Be have said that they have a ten-year plan for Deus Ex. I can't dig up the exact quote right now, but they've said it. I think.
2: There's still several decades between DX3 and DX1. Plenty of time for more presequels.

Sounds like some butthurt on your end. It's incredibly reminiscent of the cover for the original Deus Ex. So if this is "cheesy B action movie" material, then clearly so is the original cover.

Sorry, but there's nothing wrong with that cover. It looks quite nice, and absolutely looks nothing like the cover for a "B action movie."

Not to mention literally an entire world of possible characters and stories.

Sounds like you have no idea what you're talking about, because this:

Is NOT "incredibly reminiscent" of this:

There is, and it does. "Absolutely."

Who's "butthurt" now...? S.A.D.B.

If you can't see the similarities then you're either blind or you were already set against the box art before it was even revealed. Show me one single "B action movie" with a cover that looks ANYTHING like the new Deus Ex and maybe then you can pretend you have a point. Until then, IT LOOKS LIKE THE ORIGINAL DEUS EX COVER. You have your main character superimposed on a glowing background, with shots and glimpses of cities and other things foreshadowing the events of the game.

Or is it not Jesus enough for you?

There are no similarities, except for the Deus Ex name and Adam wearing a trench coat. And how would I be against the box art before it's revealed? That doesn't even make sense.

How about this:

Or this:

In the style of cliché Hollywood trash. I don't need to "pretend" a goddamn thing. Because I've already made my point, which is more than I can say for you.

No. It f***ing doesn't.

I robot is not a B-movie do you even know what a B-movie is? The production budget is huge!

Also, I kind off liked I robot and that Poster is pretty sweet.

This is a B-movie:

Oh and the normal cover is a lot better looking than the augmented edition cover. So I also disagree there.

iRobot wasn't that great. It holds a 58% on rotten tomatoes. Babylon A.D. had a better poster, and that movie was ass.

58 percent on rottentomatoes is actually pretty decent... It means over half of the critics liked it.
But that is not the point! It not being good does not make it a B-movie. Please look up what the definition is of a B-movie.

And b-movies can have awesome looking posters as well>:/

I know what a B movie is. 58% is not decent. 58% equals FAIL in the video game industry. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows currently holds a 78%. What does that tell you?
