Oh, those *Bad People*!
Why the hell do they insist on doing these *Extremely Annoying* moves? This kind of *Bad-Meany* maneuver has kept me from buying games before. *Manure*!

Lol as a hardcore fan I am psyched this is like the cheapest CE ever for so much content. And I'm NOT talking about the weapons/credits/map I'm talking about the 5 other things...

Let's see... Hmn... "All 3 weapons in full version of the game will be pretty cool."
Please someone tell me it's not true. |

Not a clue. I'm guessing there'll be a grenade launcher and a sniper rifle in the game, but the pre-order stuff seems to offer enhanced variants. If there actually isn't a nade launcher and sniper rifle in the basic game, that'll be pretty hilarious (can you imagine reviewers' reactions to a DX game without a sniper rifle?), but not a game breaker for me.

Ok, so, I am still a bit confused about the 2 preorder packs and the augmented edition, so here are my questions I hope someone will calrify:
1) Does the Augmented Edition have all the 2 packs plus its primarly content? 2) Is it the Aug. Ed. the best way to get every single extra, bonus and stuff from the game?

The bonus guns don't look too great. None of them can be upgraded, meaning they'll probably be outclassed by midgame. The only thing of significance that you might miss out on is the bonus mission. I'll bet its available for cheap after the game's been released along with everything else (See: Just Cause 2)

That's not fair. In MANY countries pre-ordering the game is impossible. I live in one of those countries. I'm scared, depressed and lonely right now. I want my sniper rifle.

Just use the regular ingame one then that can actually be upgraded.

I am universally against withholding content for pre-orders or DLC. If you've built the content, it should be in your game for everyone who's purchased it... period!
And an entirely new mission with a DX1 CAMEO?? FU EM! PS. The Augmented Edition looks lovely.

Yes, on the main site they compare the preorder sniper rifle to the regular one:
"The Longsword Whisperhead Suppressed Extreme Range Sniper Rifle is a military Spec-Ops variant of the standard Longsword 202 ‘ERaSeR’ sniper rifle..." http://deusex.com/preorder |

Oh Eidos Montreal, you really are trying your very best to make me not buy this game, aren't you?
The weapons I couldn't really care less about, barring the remotely detonated explosives: they have the potential to be a large part of the gameplay, opening up entirely new ways to do things that a double barrelled shotgun and sniper rifle won't really do. There's this idea: Quote:
But yeah, like I say, the weapons are "meh" to me, the big deal is the extra mission - a) because it's specifically a mission that features a "classic" Deus Ex character, so one the long time fans will particularly want to play, and b) because it suggests the game is structured so that missions can be easily dropped in and out - can you imagine taking a mission out of the original Deus Ex, or even Invisible War? It would've ruined the flow of the game completely with an abrupt "skip" - like in Assassin's Creed 2: "You did a couple of missions here, but THE DATA FILES ARE CORRUPTED" (WINK) "SO WE CAN'T SEE THEM NOW" (WINK!) Add on to this the fact that the preorder bonuses are separate depending on your retailer, so you can't play the full version of the game (without resorting to piracy) and it reinforces my longstanding belief that Eidos Montreal has nothing but contempt for its consumer base. OK, you may be able to get all of these add-ons with the collector's edition - i.e. by paying extra, which is bad enough in itself - but notice, again, that Kyle hasn't popped on to confirm this. Also, they've only given us details of the US pre-order bonus. I wouldn't like to take a bet on non-US customers not being able to (legitimately) get these things at all, but on the other hand, I wouldn't bet against it either. Finally, is it just me or is the collector's edition massively disappointing? After all our thoughts on here about whiskey glasses, zippo lighters, Adam / boxguard figures, sunglasses, etc etc, what do we get? An absolutely bog-standard making of DVD, soundtrack, artbook and motion comic - now, the motion comic could be cool, but it's of the E3 trailer that we've probably all got committed to memory by now. Seriously, after all Eidos Montreal's assurances that if they did a Collector's Edition, it'd be something special, this is an incredible let-down - because, in fitting with absolutely everything about this game so far, it's just doing what every other game out there does. *Yawn* So yeah, Eidos Montreal delivers another big "screw you" to their fanbas. After the last trailer, I was actually starting to get (cautiously) more optimistic about this game, but this whole thing has shot that straight back down again. I really fail to think of a way that Eidos Montreal could realistically insult their fanbase more. Good job, everyone involved. [EDIT] Oh, and "UR-DED"? FFS,, EM, why don't you just write "Age rating: 15 and under" on the box? Last edited by Ashpolt; 11-30-2010 at 01:00 PM. |

It seems to be like that. They say one thing, and I feel optimistic. Then they say something else a few day later and it gets me upset. Then they come back and say something again and I'm less upset, then they inform me that they added a double barrel shotgun but I won't get it and this makes me want to rape and kill.
Help me Kyle san Kenobi, you're my only hope! Last edited by Dead-Eye; 11-30-2010 at 01:08 PM. |

I read an excellent point in the YouTube comments on the preview vids - Eidos may not have had any choice. Retailers really like pre-order incentives like this, particularly for less-consumed PC games, to the point that they may demand such incentives be added before they'll stock the game.
It's a shame, but, a fact of the market. Just remember that the whole rest of the game is there. The loss of a mission is the worst part of this for me, but it's not going to stop me buying it vanilla (I don't think the pre-order extends over here). |

Well, looks like Gamestop will be getting my money for the Aug Edition pre-order. It was never a question of whether or not I'd be getting the special edition, but rather from whom.
This process of handing out specific extra goodies to different retail outlets is unfortunate. I had hoped this wouldn't be the case for HR.
