I think I figured out a hole up side to this.

You know the guy who trys to sell you the mission in game. The guy you really want to kill? Well if this is a true Deus Ex game, then finally we can kill the cheap pitch man and forget about the mission.

I legitimately respect your lack of bias. Clearly I've been gone too long.

I've been waiting for the announcement of a collector's edition for a while now. Not only is this unbalancing weapon stuff bull, but whats included in the Augmented Edition doesn't seem that special, and the cover art (for the CE) is just one of the old shots of Adam. The regular cover art is excellent though.

Somebody, somewhere, dropped a ball is all I'm saying.

Rindill the Red, I would've expected you to know that there is currently no official date and that the "dates" are just placeholders.

So far, even though there is an estimated 6 months left. There is still no official date from EM or SE.

I'm not buying anything until I can get both preorders in the augmented edition, and get them on Steam.

I just wish that the comic wasn't digital. I prefer physical items in general with this kind of stuff.

Still plenty of time for them to delay it.

On the upside, it's moving, which probably means it has sound effects, voice acting, and music. You "watch" it like a movie.

By changing their minds and saying fall instead of spring, or july instead of march(I think that's when it is, right?)

it said "early next year" which could be anything in during/after June or in 2012

but any case those words that they said aren't set in stone.

How exactly, do you figgure that an announcement in 2010, that states "early next year" equates to anything within the realm of June, a month that is exactly half way through the year, let alone 2012?!?

I'll be really pissed at the EM marketing department (and/or Square Enix) if there's no way to get all of the pre-order goodies in a single package. I would have paid $100 for a full, everything included Collector's Edition but there's no way I'm buying the game from 2-3 different places just to get it all. That's complete BS.

I'll tell you how it will go down for people wanting to get everything, if there's no single pack with it all (NOT endorsing this in the slightest, just pointing out the obvious):
- They buy the standard/cheapest edition of the game itself or just pirate it completely
- They pirate the soundtrack
- They search google for the art book as a PDF that someone will undoubtedly scan within hours of the game's release
- They find someone who uploaded the comic to youtube or the like (or, depending on the format, just pirate it as well)
- They pirate the DVD
- They wait 2-3 days for someone to figure out how to crack the unlockables and extras and/or provide them as a standalone download, then access/pirate them

Bottom line is that EM AND Square Enix lose out on money they could have gotten with a single, unified pack. Again, I don't endorse pirating anything, but crap like this is what drives people to do it. Chances are I'll end up getting the Augmented Edition and whatever that entails, but I feel bad that a game that looks so good is likely going to be hindered on its release simply by the choices of some jackass, upper-level manager.

I'm always amazed at how stupid the teams that are in charge of merchandising or marketing are. The problem is that their resume` consists of how they sold lunchboxes and legos with success at toys r us and are not actually gamers who of all people will know what gamers want. I cant pull an exact source who said that, but I believe it was either the head of bioshock 1 or maybe fallout 3. Point is, if that's the case they're completely right.

I mean really. I've never seen this level of butthurt on these forums before, and IT ISN'T EVEN ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE GAME.
Are you kidding me? Some bright spark thought it would be a cool idea to cut a mission out and make it a pre-order exclusive. Even worse is that said mission is aimed purely at old-school DX fans in order to shake extra money out of their wallet. It is a shameless cash-grab. And yes, it has everything to do with the game. Cutting it up into pieces is despicable.

If I'm expected to pay about $130AU (the price of most collectors' editions here) for a game, I want to know damn well that my purchase won't be tacit approval of vile business practices such as release-day DLC. Steamworks as DRM pissed me off, but this could very well be the final straw for me.

How EM can remedy the situation: NO RELEASE-DAY DLC. I'd have no qualms paying extra to get luxury packaging, an artbook and soundtrack. But an extra mission? No dice.

Pre-order exclusives are what's popular. If it's popular, it must be okay.

This was popular in the late 1930s and early 1940s so it was okay too, amirite?

I think it's mostly the exclusive mission which people are pissed about. This needs to be fixed. I don't care so much about the weapons.

March 8th being the date wouldn't surprise me since all the new pre-order sites listed that date, at least in the US.

That said, no, not official.

I agree at 100%.

And I am still waiting for the news about thoose weapons, if they are not in the original retail game, thats a shame.
Same if the bonus mission is a important part of the story.

Like you said, its a luxury BS

Thats really not how I imagine videogames when I was child...

AHAHAHAH I found something funny who resumes the situation very well !

It came from a guy on youtube called TheBenEEeee :

JC Denton: "I don't mind a training exercise, but UNATCO better issue me some hardware."

Paul Denton: "Sorry JC, you didn't pre-order the game, so stick with the prod. This IS a marketing exercise JC."

Apparently there are two preorder packs. If you go with Gamestop you get the explosive pack. If you go with another retailer you get the tactical pack.

The view of some from the community is: "Eidos why are you splinting up the game into pieces!? Why not just sell us the game in its entirety." Or least that's what I'm getting from the forums.

Also gamestop doesn't exist in certain countries so those who do want that specific preorder content are SOL.

I'm understand some member of the community are not happy with Eidos decision... and too a degree, I agree with them.
