Have Vision.... This game setting would (could) make a fantastic mmo setting. But, it would take a very experienced MMO company to do it right though.

Just saying.

And the mention of Final Fantasy online... (I don't play that one either)... they "still" make the single player games too (I do play that). Keep that in mind.

yeah well its a shame all the recent final fantasies suck. when the older ones were masterpieces (5-10)

DX should never stray from its origins. NO WAY

mmo's are great. Especially f2p ones...since they are free. And it looks like they are getting better and more action oriented each year. But mmorpg's are still the hardcorest games out there ofc.

This Text is most likely TLR material. Forgive me for that but this topic happens to cover my favorite genre and I've been around in MMOs for quite some time now so I feel obliged to answer to some of the things that have been said so far.

For my Opinion on the topic scroll down to the last paragraph.

For casual gamers that is. To date every single F2P is a rip off for enthusiast (hardcore) gamers that play for competitive PvP and thus F2P is widely disliked amongst those players that are also forming quite a portion of Deus Ex's fanbase.

If done right it will. But then it will appeal more to a crowd that will always prefer subscription based MMO payment to F2P.

Just watched some trailer for Otherland and gathered what info I could get (which is not much besides the fact that it's based upon the similar named novell series) and I can't say I'm impressed or curious to play. It looks very fantasy-esce (surely to attract the fans of WoWish games. The overall atmosphere seems nowhere close to Deus Ex.

With all the bugs in there right now, with it's dated looks and by todays standarts, I'm afraid you're right if you look at the package as a whole. In many details though neocron was and still is years ahead of any other MMO. Above all for a MMO it had a very dense and immersive atmosphere. Second to that it has the best balanced crafting and housing systems I've seen to date in any MMO. Though many people will say otherwise to me it also has the best FPS Combat System I've seen in a MMORPG.

Anyhow if you're looking for a playable MMO close in atmosphere to what you find in Deus Ex then Neocron is the best choice available.

Would you happen to have some more info (website links, IP-Adresses)? I have my MX:O Box lying around here and would love to play it again.

Same Question as above: Would you happen to have further inof about this? Website Links?

Surely it'd be no good idea to set such a MMO at the same time as any of the single player titles. But to say the Universe of Deus Ex is impossible to use for a MMO is just nonsense. Actually it would be a quite excellent background story to base a MMO on.

As above i need to disagree to some extent: If you're a casual MMO-player that anyways only would play an hour or two per day even on weekends, then surely F2P is a total win. But for players looking to compete in PvP F2P is a total loss compared to subscriptions. Most F2Ps develop real ugly gameplay obstructions to push players into buying items in their premium shops. And in most cases buying the items "needed" to have the same level of unobstructed fun you'd have in a subscription based MMO is costing you actualy more (sometimes two or three times more) money than a subscription would be.

On Topic: DX:O (Deus Ex - Online)? Yes I want to see that. In about ten years. Why you might ask? Because at the moment the MMO genre to me seems stuck in a circle of copying itself over and over. Sure we get always new background story and new settings but gameplay elements and presentation are somewhat stagnant. A Deus Ex - Online would need to be the same level of groundbreaking innovation that back in the day the original Deus Ex was to stand out above the rest of the market. Which is not achievable with todays available tools for making games if you ask me. Aside from the technical side of things a Deus Ex Online for me would need to completely assimilate the spirit of the original Deus Ex and must be developed with the goal to present the players a vivid simulated environment in which they could do whatever they like. The freedom must be taken one step ahead by getting rid of a predefined static storyline and predefined static factions.

@Mods: please reread the Original Post of the "Deus Ex Online" Thread and then understand it and unmerge threads again:

I think this platform would make an awesome MMO. Both PVE and PVP based.

Though, the PVE would require some MAJOR, and I mean MAJOR AI improvement over this games serious neanderthal AI.

All skill and aug based (no classes, no items) would be great. No level grinds... or item based game.

Any word from the company on something like this?
The OP wasn't asking for DX:HR pre-order or DLCs. He was asking for an MMO version of Deus Ex (he named it "Deus Ex Online") and that was what was discussed in the thread. If a MMO Version of Deus Ex would make sense at all and what it should be like if one was developed.

Default Pre-Order DLC Question

I pre-ordered the Playstation 3 version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution from Gamestop and received the Explosive Pack DLC for the pre-order. I then acquired the Tactical Pack DLC through buying the game from Best Buy for a friend. I am wondering if you can have both DLC enabled at the same time or would there be conflicts? I know overseas they have a DLC bundle if you get the augmented edition but I do not know if they are a single download package or two separate ones like here in the US.

Default Where's the Preorder Bonus code?

I preordered from Walmart.com and I did not receive a code via email or find a code in the shipping package. Now before I crack open a sealed game I like to know if the code is inside of it.

I did try to contact Walmart but the response I got back from them was "Unfortunately, additional copies of system generated emails cannot be sent" and I already checked through my email's Spam and Trash. Only walmart e-mails I got were order placement, shipment, and time for pick up. Am I screwed for not getting my preorder bonus?

Argh this is what I get for being late to preorder from Amazon :keir:

Default Explosive Mission Pack & Tactical Enhancement Pack

Hello,

I purchased (pre-ordered) the augmented edition of DX3 but was quite disapointed when I realized it didnt include any of the "DLC" available in the European or Australian versions... Theres a lot of extras i'd really enjoy!

Is there any way I can get those without having to move to Australia or the UK? (PC version) This is, in the end, very disapointing from a Montreal studio to leave their local customers with half a product compared to the rest of the world.

Regards,

JulioQc

Default Explosive mission pack and other DLC

Is there any chance we will have access to the bonus in the future if we didn't pre-order?

Will they be available as DLC?

I don't know about tactical enhancement pack or how is it called, but you can buy explosive mission pack on mmoga or g2play.net.
http://www.g2play.net/store/Deus-Ex-...Steam-Key.html
http://www.mmoga.com/Steam-Games/Deu...-Pack-Key.html

It's not official, but it's tested and reliable, I got it there myself. They even accept paysafecard, if you want to buy it completely anonymously and safely.

btw: that mmoga description is wrong, from that it seems like there are both preorder DLC in package, but it's just one of them. (Tong mission, ur-ded, AUD, i think grenade launcher too).

Default Surfers Beware!

I just recieved my copy of human revolution (huge fan of the original) and was suprised it came with the Tactical Enhancement Pack. Looking up what the DLC is all about I came across: http://www.explosivemissionpack.info/

Just wanted you to know that I believe it's phony/scam. Didn't try it of course but I suspect it is, Just a warning.

Plus I think its illegal or what not.

Thanks. I'd rather give my money to Eidos though.

I'm confused, haven't people just been using the "debug menu" to make up for the lost items and mission- because you can do that you know...

Default For those on the fence...

If you are on the fence about this game (wich I was) and you live in canada, Future Shop has it for 39.99$ until the 16th.

It's a nice bargain and you support Eidos Montreal + the good work the team did by buying it new instead of used.

Have a nice day!

Default How to get my money back for DX:HR?

Simply what the thread title says. I can't enjoy the game with the audio delay that it has, and I don't have any reason to believe that the issue will be addressed in a future patch.

That said, how do I go about getting my 60 bucks back for this game? I never, and will never, play it because of this glaring issue. Unfortunately, walmart will not accept opened software as a return, so I can't take it back to the retailer. I don't know where to go from here.

Lol if you are that picky, good luck. Nobody will give you money back because you can just be lying about what you are saying. You can just download the game, say you dont like it and give the cd back. Then you can keep playing the game.

Good thing that the pre-order bonus is available on STEAM now and I do hope that Valve won't remove it in the future.

Wow, just wow... Why those damn clowns didn't tell us sooner that the pre-order bonus would come eventually on Steam? I could have ordered my copy on Steam (and get the TF2 bonus) instead of the UK. Jesus Christ Eidos, you really deserve a kick in the face for that one.

Gotta love the way companies try to milk us for more money ..

My copy was a pre-order that was left at the store. As the customer dint came by to pick it up they reduced the price to 40 euros.
So i got lucky and got both bonus codes with that copy aswell.

I can only imagine the frustration of paying 60 bucks for a pre-order and a month and a half later you see the same game for 35 on amazon and the bonus content sold on steam for 5

And what about more cut content like the upcoming DLC..

Thats another 15 bucks so eventually you end up paying 75$ total !
Now the game is good but is it really worth 75 bucks?
personaly i think companies have become to greedy and there marketing has become missleading.

Regardless of that imagine beeing even more unfortunate, and ended up with a broken game, and after allmost 2 months you still cant play it. how is that for 60$ ?

Eidos might not like the tone of my post here, but for me this whole game has bad advertisment written all over it.
