Also, what kind of game case is that?

It looks like a book.

Not that I don't like it.

It's a good size for a collectors' edition. Just imagine all the extra goodies that would fit inside.

I dont know how much "intel" you have, but i really wonder how much freedom designers have with DVD-Cases nowadays, would it even be possible to not use the standard-case for the normal version?

My guess is, it's going to be like DX with Adam instead of JC, looking up at a light shining down on him. Instead of it being a searchlight, it'll be a streetlight.

I appreciate everyone's feedback, especially that awesome fan made cover, hopefully we will get some hints once some new posters arrive at the Eidos store before early 2011.

We all know that there will be twists/hidden conspiracies in the plot and this box art displays that magnificantly by having the main protagonist split between two sides (notice how the "reflection" is of a more evil/augmented/killer side of Adam in battle armor instead of the more muted/human/doubleagent look of a trenchcoat - play against the protesters or work for them?). Nice touch and big pluses to whoever pulled that off. There are always 2 sides to a story/argument and Adam doesn't know which side he's on (has he turned his back to his other side?)... Perfect!

It's the new fad with covers. No, seriously, take a stroll down the fiction section of your local book store. The number of covers that chop off the head is staggering.

-~::Edit::~-

I was always under the impression this was going to be the cover-art.

I'd love to see Adam's Overdrive.

I'm expecting to see "Games For Windows Live!" on there.

And then I'll kill myself.

Just for the record, not much manip was involved as it's promo art (still clool, though).
Instances of it here and here.

Expected boxart from when we heard that Square Enix was taking over EM.

The guy on the front is Tidus, the lead character of Final Fantasy X. He's a fairly good example of Square Enix's "belts 'n' zippers" (and crazy hair) approach to character design.

I chose him because he's so f**king outrageous. He's more of a caricature of their design philosophies than an actual byproduct. If Square Enix should ever be ashamed of something they created, their disgrace lie'th there.

Honestly I'm kind of hoping for something posed with a lot of the game's characters in it. Nothing too flash, I was thinking more of a recreation of one of the Dutch Masters' paintings with characters, clothes, and a setting from the game.

Agreed Tidus is pretty outrageous, but there are better examples. What about Lulu? She has AN ENTIRE SKIRT MADE OF BELTS! And she carries a moogle around with her!
