there are Armor resource items to find (shiny silver boxes) that automatcally upgrade your health...collect a few and every so often it'll say "Max health increased"

There is no difference. They are just the same boxes you see that give you cash, weapons upgrades, and vehicle upgrades. It's just you have to collect a certain amount before your health increases. I'm not sure how many as it automatically upgrades your health (unlike weapons and vehicles where you choose what to upgrade)

Yes that is true, but you have to collect a LOT! to get your health bar that big! My health bar is the entire half of the circle.

you can tell the one below has gone far in his game as the grenades hes using are 5 star upgraded, so hes collected a lot of the boxes or he just loves the grenades

Just collect the health boxes, 5 give you a little health upgrade which is hardly noticeable but after collecting a good amount you should see it starting to get bigger, i usually notice the health boxes under motorway bridges, at least two usually lie at either side of the bridge if you continue straight onward underneath it... if that makes sense at all, otherwise just play the game and you probably will stumble across them

You need to collect 200 out of the 400 armor crates to get a full health bar. No idea if you get any additional benefit for collecting all 400. You can find many of the them under bridges, especially the main freeway loop around the big island.
