Default Avalanche Engine 2.0 - any upcoming games?

I think anyone's who played JC2 will agree that the engine - Avalanche Engine 2.0 - rocks. On a fairly mid-range PC (Q6600/4GB RAM/HD4870) I get a steady 60 fps will all settings on high and insane draw distances and, not just that, but it looks stunning. It micturates on the face of Rockstar's RAGE engine from a great height; I really liked GTA IV, but on the same machine, got only 20fps with many settings on low, and even then the game has a very pixellated washed out look, with absolutely terrible shadows.

Have Avalanche licensed their engine for other games?

EDIT: Is it true that the game is locked to 30 FPS on consoles? Man, that must suck for you guys. *takes hat off, tear falls down cheek*

Maybe they can create something like MAG, an epic large thirdperson/firstperson shooter!

I don't know about the FPS for us on consoles, but i'd love to see what they have in store for us. Maybe a Just Cause 3? Or another completely amazing open world game. Yes please.

If they release the SDK, expect to see some awesome stuff come out, all community developed. This is hands down the best engine out right now and it deserves to be utilized across the board with all kinds of games. I'm sure Avalanche is working on some sweet stuff right now. Imagine the insane quality of a game developed on it using a much smaller area, like a linear style adventure or shooter game. It would blow the doors off anything else out right now, as JC2 pretty much puts everything else out to shame in terms of overall control, world design, and graphics. I know there are other games with better graphics, but those games are probably 1/100th the size of this game, if that.

We need that SDK. It's rumored to be coming out, and if it does, say "bye bye" to the over-rated Unreal engine.

Totally agree with you there.

I had been following the Avalanche Engine 2.0 since April of last year. Ever since I played the first game to use the engine that had been released.

theHunter.

If you thought JC2 was beautiful, wait til you play in a first-person game built on Avalanche Engine 2.0. It's a hunting game, and I HATE HUNTING GAMES, but I LOVE theHunter. It's just too beautiful and realistic not to love.

Oh, want to know the best part about it? IT IS FREE!!
Well, not 100%. People who haven't purchased a membership only get to hunt mule deer. I didn't even care though. I ended up purchasing a 3 month membership ($15) just to support the game.

Anyway, check it out:

TheHunter looks amazing! But it won't work on an average laptop due to the graphics I bet.

It's always worth a shot. I mean, the file isn't even that big. Somewhere around 500MB, I think. So, if all you've got is a bad laptop then at least try it. It's worth it.

the engine is amazing, I agree. However I do believe that in the physics department, more accurately on the car and human physics, Gta 4 is better and if something in between these two engines would emerge it would be in epic. I'd love to see this coming from Eidos and not Rockstar.

Thankfully, the physics are not from Rockstar, but NaturalMotion. Euphoria is an amazing engine. Eidos could very easily use Euphoria for any of their future games.

It's what continues to make GTA IV and RDR fun. As well as Star Wars: Force Unleashed

When the demo of JC2 first came out, I dreamed of how amazing it could be if used with Euphoria...oh...mmmm....I would like it very much...

Yeah that Euphoria engine is going to be used in a NFL game and it looks great. But both the Avalanche and Euphoria engines are vvery similar, as we actually don't see Rico dragged across the mountain from a failed stunt in an identical way, nor do the vehicles crash the same. Still I would have loved to be able to jump in front of cars to be hit just to see how I end up dying hehe xD.

I know of Backbreaker, which NaturalMotion developed themselves, but it's not an actual NFL game. Is there another that's going to use Euphoria? Or are you just using NFL to refer to football in general?

No it's the same game you're talking about. I used NFL as a general term for american football.

Since we're talking about euphoria engine, do you know if it will be used in Mafia 2?

In-house engine, The Illusion Engine, and PhysX.

Only game I know for sure about that will have Euphoria that isn't out yet is Max Payne 3. Rockstar seems to really like it. I can't blame them though. I've had so much fun just with the free version of Endorphin. Wish I could use Euphoria...

Also, Force Unleashed II should be having it, but that's a given.

Late to the party, but I couldn't agree more! Just played the free Hunter game and was really impressed by the first person experience. This engine could easily out perform ArmA 2's p.o.s.

Please Avalanche Studios... bring something similar to the table.

Xbox 360: Capped at 30 FPS
PS3: Not capped at all. It can go over 30 FPS.
Link to website: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...-demo-analysis
and for some reason, for the whole PS3 video to play the whole way, you have to view it in hd
