Glad you approve BH. Too true, she was an amazing artist, her passing in 2008 was a real blow.
Fortunately, we have film and audio archives to refer to when we need a fix. I can see by your post that you found the wealth of YouTube videos of her. I have been collecting them slowly with a FLV Download app I have. |

Nonono, it's totally sensible: I don't give a rip what style or country or genre it comes from, if it's done well, it if strikes some kind of cord in my head, or if it just plain rocks, I'm there dude. To my mind the only thing nutty would be to allow worrying about "what other people might think" to determine what tuneage I listen to. I...do get a lot of razzing from friends & family though. Hey, their loss. ![]() Lounge! That's another place where weirdness meets excellence (that whole "UltraLounge" series is priceless, IMO.) My fave is Space Capades: A contemporary disc with the same kind of space-lounge weirdness is "Trip Tease" by Tipsy from '97: Enjoy! .

Are you saying listening to the Headpins isn't nutty?
I bet you're the only one in the lower 48 who is still listening That's like Me still listening to The Godz! ![]() I'm actually surprised this was on Youtube! When I was a youngster just starting to see local bands at clubs Eric Moore would show up from time to time. He seemed like a BIG star back then ![]() Dean Elliot and his Orchestra CAN NOT be beat!!!!! What a song! Yep, that Ultra Lounge set is doing a great job keeping that goofy stuff alive instead of letting it disappear forever

Exactly.
My soapbox $.02: The 'Pins did some of the best early-'80s crunch-rock ever - and didn't pretend to be anything else - with a vocalist who was nothing short of phenomenal. They fell victim to an untimely record company collapse and a really short-sighted promoter, on top of the natural difficulty Canadian bands faced in breaking into the States. But three instant-classic rock discs nonetheless, though the latter two nudged a little toward over-production. I'm one of these people who doesn't think of Poison or Motley Crue or Cinderella when he thinks of '80s metal, but of the bands who were more interested in sound than image, or at the very least sound before image. I'm also one of these people who thinks '80s rock has been the victim of a weird kind of politically-motivated media bigotry - '80s rock wasn't "countercultural" enough, doncha know. If you can get your hands on a copy, chug a little Pepto and read the cover story / hatchet job of the December 8, 1983 issue of Rolling Stone, titled "Inside MTV: The selling out of rock & roll," by an apoplectic leftwing neo-Medievalist named Shawn Levy. He's basically Tipper Gore and Phyllis Schlafly on steroids, religious Left and Right fused into one, arguing that MTV in its golden age (roughly the first two or three years of its existence) was overly-upbeat, hedonistic Devil Music, too preoccupied with sex, drugs, rock & roll and having a good time to preach about "relevance" and "social issues" and "problems facing our world." So it had to be driven off the air and ridiculed forevermore. What that trash-tabloid's virtual takeover of MTV and the music biz as a whole in subsequent years got us was: Two full decades of homicidal disco ("rap") mixed with third-rate suicidal bar dreck ("grunge,") - and no end in sight. We're heading into a third decade with that faddish audio sludge propped up like a lurching, re-re-reanimated zombie and promoted to the skies. Meanwhile the people who just want...music...shake their heads, tap their fingers impatiently, go to other countries or eras for tuneage, and hope the industry will at last cough up that great, calcified cultural hairball and clear the way for another rock renaissance. So '80s metal is a perspective thing - or maybe just "to each his own?" I'm off the soapbox, sorry - but that's my favorite rant subject, BTW. ![]() [tag], the whole Trip Tease album is great neo-lounge. 'Can't-go-wrong stuff. In that same general groove but a little darker, is a sleeper that I consider a buried masterpiece of rock - "Bliss of a Madman" by Magic Box from 2003, which was just guitarist Steve Denny and drummer Tom Maxwell in the studio. It's a classic on a par with early Pink Floyd, I kid you not, only totally instrumental - except for audio clips from film and television, but they don't count. Not a thing from it posted on YouTube, but the Amazon samples give a little taste. Too bad it was a one-off collaboration...: http://www.amazon.com/Bliss-Madman-M.../dp/B0000A4G70 Brevity. Oyeah! ![]() .
