Default Game freezes only on explosions ' fix? "

i registered here just to post this to find SOME KIND of help, because im loss and clueless, and being a IT tech and computer networking eng degree, its even worse lol.

I've did everything, overclocked, under clocked, my system was very stable overclocked, but i put it back to factory just to see if it was the issue, and it was not. but i'm going to keep it all factory for now, i had issues with battle field bad company 2, with the game locking up and showing white screen, i fixed this issue with updating my bios, video drivers, sound drivers and chipset, and i know all of these are current, and i know my system is well over the recommanded specs, so if someone could please help me, that would be great.

here is a bit of history, i installed the game, updated it, all good..open the game, set all my settings etc, bench mark it, i'm set, im good to go. i go to create a new game, and right when the heli gets shot at or blows up, my game locks up, picture freezes ( its an explosion) and then goes to desktop with the game not responding, i need help, because i really want to play this game

my system specs below

( i can play every game i throw at it, with max settings, i don't wanna say my system is perfect, nor do i wanna say its a broken game, but i need help. thanks

windows 7 64 bit

CPU - Intel i7 920 Quad core (stock 2.66) OCd (4.0ghz) < went back to factory 2.66
MB - ASUS P6X58D Premium X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0
Memory - CORSAIR 6GB 1600mhz DDR3
Video - (2) BFG Geforce GTX 275 OC ( i removed my other thinking sLI problem, so using single card ATM )
HDs - (two)RAID-0 -WD VelociRaptor 1.2TB 10k RPM SATA 6.0
PSU - Diablotek RPM series RPM850 850W ATX

thanks

Well, your specs are ok. Unusual for it to be freezing in the manner you've described. Have you ever seen an explosion animation that has completed with no problem? I know it sounds ridiculous but could it have something to do with your sound card / driver?

Yes, i have seen other explosions, but only the massive ones or certain ones do it, like right when you create a new game, and you sky dive from the chopper, to get your PDA from the person, there is explosions in mid air, that isn't the problem, as soon as i land and get on the ground and get back all the memory cards, and i shoot down the chooper and then i blow up the big dome next to it, bam...game freezes and goes to desktop, but game still running.

as for the sound card drive, it is updated with the latest, ( my battlefield bad company 2 ) was crashing due to sound drive, updated it, fixed my issue, so i know its not the sound since i already updated it and it fixed my bfbc2 problem. no idea...thanks tho.

I know it was a while ago and I can't even remember what I did this morning, but I don't recall my game starting like that at all! Memory cards?

Yes, right when you create a new game, and it starts off, your flying into the city with a chick and another dude on this chopper, she talks for a bit, then pulls out memory cards and then bam, a rocket or something hits the chooper and i sky dive to go get my pda off the other dude, then you land and find the memory cards she was holding when the chopper got hit with the rocket and the memory cards flew out the window, i donno?

what does this have to do with my game freezeing problem? i got around that first blast, but then a bit more into that mission there is another blast that causes my game to lock up.

any help would be great.

Try to turn off these;

• Bokeh Filter
• GPU Water Simulation

And Soft Particles,

Look if that works.

Then I don't know what else to say, are you using Steam?

Have you tried to reinstall the game?

Have you used the NV Monitor while playing JC2 to monitor the temprature to make sure it doesn't overheat?

Have you tried setting the JC2 Process to a lower Core Affinity?

yes, i am using steam ( you have to lol )

i reinstalled the game 3 times, updated it 3 times via steam also.

i use EVGA monitor tool, and cpuz for rest of my temps, they are fine, my hole PC temps are fine.

setting the process to a lower core affinity? why should i have to? it uses all four of my cores.. i am back to factory clocks, because i thought it was causing this issue.

I suggest you try to lower the Core Affinity, just for testing purposes.

Try to set it to 1 core and see if you're able to play longer than usual.

Okay.

Yeah I get you, I had to do the same to be able to play the game at all... Though, I've updated my GPU Drivers and turned of GPU Water Simulation as well as Bokeh Filter and it works flawlessly now.

Soft Particles to?

so you turned off all of those, and made the game only use one core and it runs great?

whats your specs?

okay i am able to only play it on 2D settings, with only 400mhz core on my video, no crashs or anything. but as soon as i run the normal stock core on my video, it crashs..and i remember BFBC2 doing this, and i just set the redenderaheadlimit to 0 and it fixed it, but i don't see this on this game...

First of all read the Community Terms of Use. Double-Posting is not allowed.

Also, you might wanna read my Technical Support FAQ.

You might wanna send a copy of your MSinfo as well as DxDiag to the Eidos Support. It's written in my FAQ how to do so.
