Default Challenge mode in AA2?

I have been playing the used-to-be-preorder-exclusive challenge maps. Have to say that Villains is a great addition but Crime Alley feels like a waste when I only get new textures. I also love the DLC survival-style combat map. So basically I would like AA2 to have more diverse challenge maps instead of the same objectives in slightly different areas.

Listing some:
1. Basic brawl map
2. Tougher brawl map with armed enemies and special enemies
3. Toughest brawl map with terrain dangers
4. Basic predator map
5. Another basic predator map? How to make it harder other than geometry?
6. 3rd basic predator map? Harder?
7. Survival styled brawl
8. Survival styled predator map - better enemies come as you knock them out
9. Timed brawl - beat as many as you can
10. Timed predator - beat as many as you can. Based on survival

11. Boss battle map
12. 1 hit death map like Dem Bones
13. Tactical maps on which you have very limited gadgets
14. Misc. Speed maps (Fly through "rings", disable bombs, navigate in vents, track a moving target... while avoiding or taking down guards)
15. Dynamic riddle maps (Randomly but balancedly placed trophies that hint you where the next trophy is, a riddle telling you to knock out a certain guard...)
16. "Don't get seen once" maps

17. "Suicide maps" (Beating up a thug makes 2 more come out)
18. Big maps involving snipers
19. Co-op only maps (Two seperate rooms or otherwise requires working together)

The Extreme maps in AA2 worked probably because they didn't take much extra space so maybe they could come back too

I was going to end it there, but decided to expand it to other possible additions:
- Ability to choose character (Atleast Batman, Robin, Batgirl and Nightwing are so similiar gameplaywise it shouldn't be much of a problem)
- Multiplayer on and offline (2 offline? possibly 3 or even 4 online?)
- Cooperative and competitive options
- Better offline records (Atleast 3 instead of 1, co-op seperatedly) and online records
- Karma-like score from Ninja Gaiden. Cumulative overall score based on all missions to know who's the best overall Batman. Leaderboards and records for this too

- Customization (Choose enemies, toggle combat counter, tweak inventory... Causes modified or no hi-scores or Achievements/Trophies)
- Map Creator (Something simple but effective like in Tony Hawk games. Empty room (adjustable size with multiple texture options) you can place gargoyles, rooms or other objects in. AI enemies can probably adapt to the new corridors and ladders)
- Share maps like in Halo3
- Rocksteady could still make unique DLC maps and add Map Creator objects

Additions?

Challenge Mode...As much as I liked it in the first game,I don't think it should even be in this one.

But then people will complain about there being nothing to do, after completing the story.

Keep the challenge mode but make it customizable, let us choose how many enemies to fight at once and who comes out after each round and such.

You have to have the challenge mode. I think the OP has some great ideas, and I was just thinking about new ways to do it the other day. I like the Predator Maps but I dont like having to do the trophies/certain moves all the time. I just would like to have more freedom with it and still be part of some sort of leaderboard or competition

The challenge mode allows for alot of different gameplay situations. Also add to the list. How about taking counter indicators off for the combat mode? Im still kinda pissed off you cant do that in the first one besides the story.

Also, dare I say it? Coop please? It doesnt have to be in the story but again the challenge modes allow you to experiment with the stealth and freeflowing aspects. They are too much fun to just scrap for the second one. It allows too much freedom with the gameplay to get rid of or limit.

Hell throw in a map editor too. Why not? They need to go all out with the challenge modes for the second one. A few maps and just extreme versions of the other maps is not acceptable this time around.

True. I'd like to hear some reason why Challenge mode shouldn't happen again.

Customization might be a bit weird. Afterall it is a "Challenge" mode. Maybe it could be solved simply by making modified settings not record the scores.

Considering how simple AA levels are map editor sounds plausible. An empty room you can place gargoyles, enemies and smaller and bigger objects in. Maybe even share these levels like in Halo

I think a level editor is something that they really should consider. Why not have the consumers work for you? Id love to see what people would like to come up with as far as maps. Because honestly, there arent a whole lot in the first one.

Because then Rocksteady won't get money out of DLC maps

Considering how quiet AA has been DLCwise it shouldn't be really a problem though. Plus they could also make completely unique maps and give (sell) us new items to place on our maps

Why should those mean that? Having them would require a bit more but they could probably still work. There are already games that only records Leaderboard scores when using default options and maps made by developers

It would only be a strain if we were to have co-op leaderboards and dozens of developer made maps

I don't think multiplayer would work in freeflow combat, but a predator challenge with infinite enemies i think could work well even with four players.
I would really like a co-op campaign but like have the two players split up and fight in seperate rooms, so two people can play but it doesn't take away from that awsome feeeling of first game.
Maybe like have two objectives you need to complete, Example, one person could be tracking joker, while the other is fighting penguins thugs in his hideout. Then when the second player finds penguin both screens could show the cutscene. (if splitscreen then both screens merge for the cutscene, or if online then both screens show the same cutscene but tell each player who triggered the cutscene.
Or both players could work together seperately, Example, one person fights the goons out side penguins hidout, while the other player sneaks into the hidout some other way and takes out the snipers gaurding it.

Hmmm...... I kinda went off topic there lol

btw i know this is a old thread but most of them on this forum are old anyways.

Well I don't know if this can actually get old. If people had some ideas this would still be active. But true I can't really add any of those because this is about challenge mode

Making combat work in multiplayer is just a matter of programming though. There could be co-op moves or hitting your ally could break your combo and hurt the other player

On topic this time!

A one hit death map like dem bones except for have it be silent predator instead of freeflow. Also it would be cool if the enemies weren't so accurate but they also added snipers in silent predator, because i hate getting hit with every bullet from a shotgun even while evading or swinging from gargoyle to gargoyle on the opposite side of the room.

Hah or like a suicide silent predator, everytime you knock someone out two more people come in. Like if it was the challenge room where during the story you save the the doctors, everytime you kill a thug one comes in from each door. or on the extreme version another thug comes in from the elevator at the same time as the other two.

Another cool thing would be a outside challenge map with normal goons patrolling the ground and snipers or guys with machine guns on the towers and buildings. Because it's always fun to sneak behind snipers.

The "don't get seen once" I listed is basically what your 1st one means. The other 2 sound great though although 3rd one is more about map than about gameplay - added! And also added the basic idea of your seperate co-op rooms
