Default You don't know how happy I am that I DIDN'T pre-order

... otherwise I would have wasted $45.

My Steam account has been disabled for an unknown reason. I have sent off a support ticket with proof of ownership, but the more I read about disabling, it seems more and more unlikely that I'll get my account back.

This makes me fcuking pissed, because I have been an extremely good customer and have bought over $500 worth of games, and the a*sholes haven't even given me a reason as to why my account got disabled.

If you wish to complain about steam, complain there.

I'm always nervous about digital downloads myself I gotta have the disc in my hands

I know DDL with be the norm in the future I just hate the idea of needing a key to play something I already purchased even worse a key to play a disc you already purchased , that would be the end all for me.

biggest problem with games like Just cause 2 and Supcom 2 (another steam only game) is that even if you have your disc in hand, you can't play it if your steam account gets disabled, as both require an active steam connection.

once youve installed it and bound the key to your first account, you can't ever play it on another account without buying a new copy.
Yet another reason I don't like steam.. Sure It makes it a lot easier to distribute the game.. but D2D does the same thing without the problems. just as an example.

How come when accounts are banned/disabled they always give you an "unknown reason"?
If I remember right I've heard a few people chatting about it, and there seemed to be alot of people who had this problem.

I'm sure if they give you an unknown reason, it's probably being looked into at the moment.

Personally, I never pre-order becuase then you are very likely to have to wait a few extra days, maybe a week, for the game to come. If you just buy it in a store you can get the DLC anyway, if you're lucky and the clerk is stupid.

in the UK, if you pre-order on gane.co.uk they ship the order a day early, even on games like cod6

If I pre-ordered, it would have been from Steam. Also, game prices here in Australian are completely unfair. Usually around $110-$130 for new release PS3 games, $100-$120 for 360, and $70-$110 for PC.

JC2 is $80 in Australia. It's $45 on Steam. I'd like a decent discount. Hell, I really don't care about the DLC over a $35 discount.

Still no word from the support department. I want to cry.

[Rant]

I have had many problems with it. The password just stops working sometimes and I think it is someone hacking It possibly could have been but Steam does nothing. I go through the maze of pages to send them a message and they take ages only to tell me something obvious like Go to recover password. Because I haven't already thought of doing that! jeez.
I once had a password change race with a hacker. We both tried to log in (Doing it signs eachother out) to change the password. Took about half an hour of constant worrying trying to save all my games. I eventually won and now my password is over 21 characters.
[/Rant]
Down with steam. I will always have a physical copy from now on.

Goddamn it, I managed to wrangle my account back, and then placed my pre-order, now, out of spite from someone on the Steam team, I have my account disabled again.

There goes $45.

FCUK!

instead of steam banning people accounts, they should just disable the online portion of it. Unless they were hacking or something

I'm with you brother, I hate Steam. I first learned of it when I bought Portal for the PC. It was a HUUUUUUUUGE pain in the crack to get that to work, because at the time my internet was very slow, but my computer was great. It took forever to download the updates so it would work, and I had to switch it to Offline Mode for it to work how I wanted. It pissed me off so much. You buy a game and you literally can't play it unless you have Steam installed and working too, so ridiculous. I want Steam to burn in Hell for Eternity, or better yet DISAPPEAR COMPLETELY!!!!!!!!
