SAN FRANCISCO, CA – March 4, 2010 – Crystal Dynamics™, a part of Square Enix Europe, today announced Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light™, a new game developed by Crystal Dynamics, which will be released via digital download in 2010.

“This is a really exciting project for Crystal Dynamics, we have created something completely new and very different to what people might be expecting,” said Darrell Gallagher, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics. “Lara Croft is such an iconic character in videogames, with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light we have created what we believe is a truly original digital experience.”

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be shown strictly “behind closed doors” at this year’s Game Developers Conference beginning on March 9th.

Crystal Dynamics is an award-winning studio located in San Francisco. Founded in 1992, the studio has created and developed key game franchises such as: Legacy of Kain™, Pandemonium™, Gex™ and most recently the Tomb Raider™ series.

WOW, a shocker, wasnt really expecting this to come out. oh well looks like i get to play as Lara again at the end of the year.

Well I like the logo and name at least, although surprised we lost Tomb Raider from the title. Still thinking about the rest.

Well, remember in the recent interview with Gamasutra Darrell Gallagher mentioned that Crystal are working on two projects, this is one of them

Crystal are working on 2 projects in the studio, this is only one of them

We haven't announced what you'll be able to play it on yet, but it's not a mini game on the net

digigtal download meaning only for PC? or can it be bought on the xbox live market place and PS store?

please i don't wanna be very disappointed with this, got all hyped up but digital download makes me a sad panda

Finally! Some good news from the Tomb Raiding Segment!
Although it's a bit shocking that they cut out Tomb Raider from the title.. they should keep it...

but if its another blooming psp game or Iphone i'll, i'll well i wont do anything cuz i can't lol


but i will come up with something i just hope the other project is indeed another TR full epic game

2 projects.. so... This is not a Tomb Raider but a side-game of the TR series...

If so.. I wish it's a TR2 remake :P

EDIT: I read somewhere the Crystal Dynamics will only be working on TR projects for now.. can anyone at Eidos / Crystal Dynamics confirm or deny this?

The Game Developer Conference being held in San Francisco starts next Tuesday and finishes on Saturday.
