Every LoK-fan knows for a long time, that Blood Omen is a treasury of many secrets. Out of all Legacy-of-Kain games, it is Blood Omen that has lots of secret locations, gameplay ruses and just interesting things, which are hidden at the first glance. Years have passed and so Blood Omen secrets gradually revealed: All of the 100 secrets marked in the status have been dug out, Futhark runes have been found and translated, powerful Lightning spell has struck many times, and even a trick with bringing a citizen to the Spirit Forge has been found and utilized. It seemed that everything, that can be found in Blood Omen is indeed found. But it turned out that the game contains at least one more secret.
I think, many of you has heard of the Blood Omnicide – a project to recreate Blood Omen in 3D format (see this tread for more info http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=97320 or visit Blood Omnicide page http://legacy-of-kain.ru/bo1/omnicide_eng.shtml). It’s leader, VorteX was just doing nessesary work on the project by looking for building roof’s textures, when he suddenly discovered a strange entrance in one of the buildings. The first strange thing about this entrance was it’s disposition on the back of the building, which in Blood Omen leads to impossibility to see it. The second strange thing about it was that it was accessible only via usage of “walk through walls” ability of a trainer. The entrance leads inside the building, where a portal is situated. http://img687.imageshack.us/i/boship1.jpg/ http://img94.imageshack.us/i/boship2.jpg/ Building itself is situated in Vasserbünde town. According to signboard on the building it is a tavern, belonging to captain Bitter. And so comes the main question: is Bitter the name of a captain or of its… SHIP http://img710.imageshack.us/i/boship12.jpg/ Because a portal inside the building leads strait to the very real naval ship. Including masts, cannons and pirates – the full house. An inscription on a starboard claims that this ship is in fact H.M.C.S. Bitter http://img51.imageshack.us/i/boship6.jpg/ (Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship, which plays on the fact that Silicon Knights studio is situated in Ontario). The ship itself is a ferocious power with its 36 cannons (which presumably makes it a Frigate) http://img408.imageshack.us/i/boship5.jpg/ http://img10.imageshack.us/i/boship4.jpg/ It’s easy to imagine bloodthirsty cutthroat corsairs, roaming the sea on it and pillaging on each fat merchant ship they meet. Moreover, smoking canons and pieces of a debris in water suggest that the ship has just been through a naval battle. On a ship’s bridge there’s another portal, leading to… http://img522.imageshack.us/i/boship9.jpg/ Probably the very same ship but in the FUTURE.(Or more prosaic - that's just another ship? but that ain't so much fun) It appears someone has finally sunk the mighty H.M.C.S. Bitter. The remains of it’s crew with chests filled with treasures are rowing to the shore on a rowboat. The shore itself is due North, while at the sothern end of this location, there’s a path blocked with a debris and big boulders.(A piece of advise if you want to visit these locations: do it after you get Kain’s Spirit Form, cause you’ll have to get over water barrier.) Both locations contain large number of Hearts of Darkness and other Artifacts. Also there’s many pirates and knife-throwers on decks. On the northern shore there’s a gravedigger, which suggests that he’s digging graves for a dead sailors, cast up on the shore. http://img443.imageshack.us/i/boship11.jpg/ We can only guess of a true story of the ship. We know it’s fate, but alas – all the rest of it’s story is covered with mist. Was it named after captain Bitter or did it’s captain name hisa tavern after his own ship? Or maybe he was so arrogant, he named the ship after himself? And that arrogance ultimately led to his demise? What precedes and what followed? What’s the cause and what’s the consequence? Where’s the future and where’s the past? There’s no answer. Legacy of Kain series always has a certain time entanglement as well as all in all philosophical view of Time and causality. One thing we know for sure: after 13 years since it’s release, Blood Omen can still surprise us. And that alone is astonishing and great. Wow! That's great! I had no idea that something like that was in the game, and I'm really surprised that no one else has found this (I have to admit that I had to think of today's date and make sure it wasn't April 1st when I was about halfway through reading this). I really wonder what was up with all that. I guess they must have taken it out because they just didn't have the time or something.
You also mentioned taking a citizen to a Spirit Forge. I've never heard about that, could you tell me how you do that? Do you use the possession spell? I've played around with that spell a bit before and was pretty surprised with how far you can go with them. |

WOW!!
but alas it brings me to WHHHHYYYY!!! why do game developers keep doing this?? they put something in but because of circumstances they cut it off from the rest of the game but leave it in - if their're not going to let us get to the area in question without cheating, then why don't they remove it completely? but i'm glad they don't ![]() but it annoys me that i don't have a trainer and i now what to see this ship for myself *cries* ;Pwhy can't game developers, if they can't bung it onto the game, put it on a seperate disc as "something for fans to have fun playing" but isn't part of the game - like the chess match with vorador, i wanna have a go at that! - BONUS MATERIAL! but make it AVALIABLE to EVERYONE not just those in the usa (like the comics, music disc, some action figures; can you see why that's annoying me!?) it's like Japan, only the good stuff comes out there where as the rest of the world doesn't get a look in, grrr!! thank you Rusminin for sharing ^.^ *hug*

From technical point of view video games are incredibly complex. We are talking about millions of lines of code for a single project. This means that deleting some parts, that are already there, may cause some unforeseen consequences. It's like trying to remove a floor from a building. It doesn't have to cause bugs in the game, but it's simply much safer to leave it where it is. It saves much time and work. |

MIND BLOWN!
Seriously, this is incredible. I've played Blood Omen more than probably any other game in the series, and had no idea that this existed! I don't even think Blincoln knows about this. |

Wow! This is really something. Since I first played the game I've always wondered who or what Cap'n Bitter was... and the answer was right through that impassable wall in Vasserbünde all along.

Maybe. I've been drawn to the fact that he's a gravedigger, so he's mostly into digging graves.

I definitely did not know about this. Awesome work! I'm also impressed with the Blood Omnicide project that led to discovering the pirate ship.

Hmm, I'll see if I can't add a warp function to the trainer for this place like I did with the level select room.
Should be easy to convert to an action replay code too.
