I missed this due to being on the motorway at the time of the announcement, but from what I understand from Twitter:
-They didn't show any games other than sports (and your post suggests also Call of Duty....woo) -It won't play preowned games unless you pay a fee* -Mandatory installs for all games* -Mandatory Kinect integration -TVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTVTV *So basically they've taken away the two things console gamers always yell about when asked why their system is better than PC. This could actually turn out to be the first console I haven't bought since the Sega Saturn. If it weren't for the truly stupid end of the brand loyalty spectrum, I'd say Sony have won this console generation already. |

Doesn't sound great so far. Looks like I'll be moving back to Sony.

MS dropped the ball BIG TIME. Charging to use the game on a second account? LMAO! They've already lost.

I try not to be a fangirl of things because uber fanboys/fangirls really tick me off but I'd agree Sony seems to be doing really well this round. The Wii U doesn't make any sense to me and the preowned games thing (what MS is doing) is always a headscratcher for me.
I have bought used games before so no, the developer didn't get any money. But you know what? I loved the games I bought, and when the next ones came out I bought them new when they came out. If I hadn't played it by getting it used, they may never have got that sale on the next game. Anyhow, I had an Xbox, left them when they dropped support for it so quickly after the new one came out and have had two PS3's. Depending on the backwards compatibility situation I might just forget consoles and just go for PC's all the way. I'm pretty sure a lot of people are about to tell me to play it after I say this, but I have yet to play the original Deus Ex, and I don't see the consoles allowing you to play those old games again with so little hassle. I know Sony has been doing their HD collections of popular games, but I don't want to pay again to play a game I already own.

It was a very poor showing. I didn't even think Sony had a strong unveil, but it certainly put this one to shame. It seemed like video games were an after thought of the console and instead its primary function seemed to be for all other types of multimedia, television being the primary.
I don't know if this presentation was shaped with E3 being right around the corner, but it was just a weak showing. When Activision is doing more to tout the strength of the platform in the presentation than Microsoft, someone misfired. Also, this image made me laugh:
