What makes this Tomb Raider better than the other ones you've released?


They have been re-imagined, but the scenario that's surrounding the character remains very important in the Batman and James Bond storylines...Did you do that for Tomb Raider?


When you decided to start over with Tomb Raider, was it clear from the beginning that it would still be Lara Croft as the hero of the game, or did you also think about replacing the main character?


Do you have in mind, when you show the trailers, how to avoid spoilers? For example, in the trailer we can see the helicopter, you can see that approach... How do you deal with that?


With the movies, sometimes they'll put in the trailer one single scene right at the end, that's more important than it is in the movie...


I was curious, did you use an actress as a model for the face? How did you go about choosing what she looked like? I see a strong resemblance to a British actress, Rosamund Pike, from Die Another Day...


Every one could feel different, this one has bigger eyes, this one has a smaller nose, then they all have to come into agreement.


Tomb Raider has always had great music that was really immersive. Can you tell us who the composer is?


Building on the question about the composer, and the influences for this game, was there any inspiration from previous Tomb Raider titles?


It's a tall order...


Do you go through puzzles, like in the past episodes? Or are you not making puzzles?


I have a similar question, can we expect to see boss battles again, or is that going to be...?


But in Underworld, it kind of moved away from traditional bosses and into more puzzle-oriented, is it going to be kind of like that?


You said that you wanted the game, I think, in general, rather than just specifically the music, to be familiar, yet different. Would you say that's been one of the hardest elements in re-creating the franchise?


Then another element of what makes it difficult would be being consciousness and the awareness of the legacy that you're handling, not wanting to take the wrong step...

  • Does the game supports DirectX11 for PC?
  • How is the upgrade of Lara's ability works? Can we able to upgrade like 'increase jump distance' or 'lifting heavier objects
  • Can we also be able to upgrade weapons as well? Like 'faster shooting', 'increase accuracy' or 'increase ammo capacity'?
  • Is Lara's carrying capacity limited? Can we be able to increase it?
  • Is the weapon capacity limited? Or we can carry as many as possible?
  • Is the ammo unlimited for any weapon? Or it is limited for all weapon?
  • Is the matchstick amount unlimited? Can we light a match with our own or it has to happen in a cinematic?
  • Does Lara needs to rest to get her strength back? And if yes then can we be able to chose when she need it?
  • How is the healing system works? Do we have to just click 'take medicine' and she automatically heals or it is in some unique way?

not sure if these have been asked before.
Q: is the player able to create some helping equipment like a raft or a shelter(from trees and branches)
Q: are on the island any vehicles or machines Lara can use? (may it be for travelling, getting to artifacts, ways to other parts of the island etc)

OK, here goes:

- Is there any kind of stealth combat? If so, can you go into specifics? Can she just try and avoid enemies if she wants to?

- Do Lara's weapons deteriorate over-time meaning that she will have to find/make new ones?

- Are there unlockable outfits?

- Can Lara creep when she's hunting animals?

- Is Lara still an aristocrat? Does she have a similar background to the past games? (Excluding the plane crash, obviously).

* Can you tell something about secondary characters (apart from Conrad) and their involvement with Lara and the plot? (Can we expect any fan favourites that will appear on DeviantArt in caricature form? )

* This TR seems more serious and realistic than previous games. Will this reflect in the storyline? (Could it result in discussions about morality in fan forums or spring debates in mainstream media?)

* The demo you showed during the previous E3 received mostly praise, but also a bit of criticism. Can you tell something about what you did with that feedback?

* If Pong is 1 and The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall is 10, how would you rate the size of the entire game world for TR?

* Are you planning any transmedia projects? (social games, mobile apps, comics, etc)

* Is there any 'player tailoring' like in Underworld? (switching helper buttons off etc.)

* The last three TR games did pretty well, though couldn't compete with the real big names. I'm sure we all expect this one to hit big again: can you say in like two sentences why that is?

* Can you tell anything about the soundtrack apart from the music we heard up until now?

What elements of 'classic' Lara have you tried to include?

How do the side missions work in game progression such as finding bonus items?

What methods of healing is Lara able to use?

Will Lara and the crew interact or assist each other outside of the cutscenes?

- Is it possible to not include the "fast travel" I've read about in previous threads/reviews between camp bases? Can the actual travel take place throughout the Island? (Freeroam)

- What pro's and con's that you considered at the initial stage of production did you cut out or limit verses now where you've come considerably further in the game? Were there any "Ah Hah!" moments that you had? (It's vague I know).

- As I've heard about the "swim" feature being cut out, does that mean the beach is inaccessable? If there were small Islands accessible via swimming and the sea floor (with bonus items and other sorts - similar to Underworld) wouldn't it make it that much more indepth?

- Making a tutorial as the first level - in my opinion is not advised. My suggestion is have a seperate level at the main menu that is highlighted to acsentuate the suggestion of doing it first and being optional (it also makes it more personal ONTOP of the CGI trailer before the game begins) that helps bring a more emotional background and different background than wht I've seen before. I mean it can be anything really (gynastic classes at a University, Rock Climbing Clubs throughout her town, Shooting Ranges out in the country, Archery Classes with a friend, etc.). Just short sweet classes that are somewhat recall memories but essential to what the game is about and how it's run controller wise.... Similar to bonus level(s). Might make it different but different is NEVER bad!

- This is WAY out there but optional responses are always a nice addition, though at this point it would be impossible to input, but still a nice idea for the next game?

Ok, so I asked this on the 'Tomb Raider release date shifts to 2013' thread and Meagan said to ask this on the next Q&A so here goes

1. As far as we can see in the screenshot, do injuries heal themselves over the time? (In the gameplay, Lara had bandages and in 'The Reach' she doesen't).

2. "Swim" or standing in the rain/waterfalls, can clean Lara? (I mean: In the gameplay we see Lara covered with mud and blood and in 'The Reach' she has nothing, except some spots).

3. Will we have a playable demo? If so, when?

* The demo that you guys will see, how bloody and adult-themed is it? Will this game be brutal?
*Does Lara's ponytail look even more realistic and move as you play?
*Are there alternative control layouts, how difficult is it to get used to when compared to Underworld/Legend/Anniversary's control scheme?
*MUSIC!?!? How does it sound??
* Does Lara continually chat with herself, or is she silent unless speaking to another character.
*WHAT ENEMIES WILL THERE BE?!- Boss battles!??!! Monsters? or are they strictly humans?
I could go on and on but I know y'all are gonna be busy so I'll limit myself
*What can we expect in the way of a soundtrack? Can you ask them if they intend on releasing one perhaps as part of the Collector's Edition? or If there will be some sort of online download code? I'm really interested in the music I've heard thusfar

Question 1 - did you ask survival experts like Bear Grills (Man vs. Wild) to make the survival parts as realistic as possible?

Question 2 - how long will it take to complete the game?

Question 3- why call it just "Tomb Raider"? doesnt it get confusing with the original from 1996?

Question 4 - will there be different endings?

Question 5 - if Lara has to move, for example, through a muddy path, will her movements be slower like taking bigger steps, trying to keep balance, be exhausted that you cant move her anymore for a short time? how does she react to these kind of conditions? if any.

Question 6 - will we have fixed cameras or can we move the camera all the time 360° around her? even when Lara is hanging on a wall, etc. Please no fixed cameras!!!

Question 7 - will there be many enemies or will it be more survival and less enemies? personally i would prefer less enemies. like 90% adventure/survival and 10% enemies.

Question 8 - can we avoid enemies or are we forced to fight them?

Question 9 - are there multiple ways to enter a building/cave like in Deus Ex HR?

Question 10 - can we make choices or is everything scripted?

Question 11 - Will there be any quicktime events or non at all? please no quicktime!!!

Question 12 - is LIVE (games for windows live) really going to be the DRM for this game?

  • Will we be able to choose between turning off hints for example not being able to see some climbable edges as easy as it is in those demos to give the classic Tomb Raider feel?
  • Will there be other playable characters besides Lara Croft?
  • Will there be online Multiplayer modes?
  • Will Lara be on her own throughout the game? Or will someone be aside her at times?
  • Will we be able to explore areas? for example, extra areas with multiple different paths to completing the level to make things more interesting?

How will Lara heal?
How much will QTE's play a role in the game? (hate those things)
Will the bow and arrow have a long range sniper function (like TRL zoom in)
What unlockable outfits will there be in the game

Development team..

Long and short of it, I'm a quadriplegic but I have assistive equipment (headmouse/sip-puff switch for mouse and keyboard with re-mapped controls) that allows to still be able to play games on PC such BF3, Batman AC, Assassin's Creed and more.. I just wanted to know if Tomb Raider will allow me to re-map key bindings to other keys on the keyboard so I can customize the contols so i'll be able to play it..

Q: Since we seen the new trailer, allot of people noted the change in hair on Lara, on the E3 2011 Trailer it looked more loose and now more stuck together, is this on purpose? and can you tell something more about the reason behind it?

Are there different voice actors for the gameplay and the turning point trailer if so why? If not then why do they sound so different?
