I can't tell if you guys are joking about being ill/sick; but the only logical 'cure' is for you to leave rather than demanding the forum be closed down.
Such an action would be unfair to all the others who enjoy coming here to contribute interesting and constructive posts.

EM refuses to release info to EVERYONE here, is that fair? EM say they are working on dev and stuff may come soon, but without any prior info to set a precedence or concrete time frame of when info will actually get released their statements are worthless.

Why should I or anyone else be driven away from here because EM can't do their PR job for Thiaf properly?

No I don't want that, I want EM to finally back up, with info, what they announced years ago.

Thief is my favourite game franchise of all time, mired in what is the worst experience I've ever had following the development of a game ever. I want to see end of the Thiaf trainwreck.

We know that former members of this forum got frustrated by EMs behaviour and left as a result. Haven't they been driven away? Seems to me, yes.

EM haven't given you any experience yet... so how can it be worse.
Many others here accept that moaning about the lack of news doesn't make the news come any quicker.

No, EM is not the reason a few others left. They left on their own accord because they didn't like the ToU.
If there was anyone else, they got banned for violating the ToU after many, many warnings.

I don't know if "fair" is the right term to use, as it implies that we are entitled to information about the game. Which, sadly, we're not.

Yes, it's frustrating. Yes, it would be amazing if there was a bit more communication with what's going on, but there isn't. We can do nothing about that, and I think between us we've proven for sure that ranting and raving has not changed anyone's mind for almost four years now!

I really do think that if people are that upset about the lack of information they should just try and forget about Thief 4, and come back when there is some news. There'll be no chance of missing any news; it'll be all over the 'net. I hope nobody does leave, but if it's for the good of your own sanity then maybe it's worth considering!

Personally I really enjoy coming to this forum because I like the sense of community of us all waiting for the game (or rather, information on the game!), but I can understand why Viktoria may want people to tone down the repeated aggressive anger, conspiracy theorising, and hate directed towards EM on their own forum. We're here as guests, after all, and there's no guarantee of free speech.

I just hope that once information does start flowing we can all start again on a new leaf and get on with ranting and raving about the actual game

Incorrect.

You have received only 5 actual infractions, not 54. You have accumulated 54 points. Big difference.
Furthermore, they were not for being critical of EM at all... they were for being rude about/to other members, arguing with another member, circumventing the forum censor and (surprise, surprise) for spreading misinformation as somehow the truth, or official etc.
You received plenty of warnings at the time.

Yeah yeah it was supposed to have been launched early and all that spiel. But clearly this forum has run its course.
With this new insight: Close the Forum, make a new logo, put it on a black background, and sign it with seeya 2014/15whatever. That'd keep me from wasting my time checking on things.
Otherwise at least keep this thread open.

Maybe we like repetition. I've watched Star Wars like 50 times - still good.
And maybe every month that passes without news only adds to the need to complain about it...

Or let's try another angle: If we start all of our posts with the days since any real news have been released (nearly didn't make it through that sentence without falling off my chair) would our posts still count as repetative? I mean there'd be a new number every day?

You will have to speak for yourself. People know and understand the ToU and we're confident not everyone here is that immature as to deliberately violate the rules... so mods won't be as busy as you think. We consider the majority of people here to be very intelligent and friendly, and respectful of others.

Then there'll silence on the forum.

The truth is, every forum goes through its busy and quiet times. It isn't unusual... so no need to worry.

As I've said before I'm all in favour of closing down the forum.

And we've said it before... closing the forum down isn't going to happen.
The forum remains open for the benefit of all our members ... and particularly so for those who like to come here and post content of interest.

As you may have noticed, we’ve locked the rants thread for now. It’s the feelings of the mod team that after 60-odd pages it has served its purpose and we’re now going in circles, and while this thread was a good chance to blow off some steam and some valid points were made, the discussion has unfortunately become redundant at this point.

Moving forward, please refrain from creating another rant or complaint thread, or derailing another discussion with rants, complaints or negativity - these will be removed. After 60-odd pages of discussion from some of our most passionate and vocal fans, we’re confident that the most prevalent issues have already been voiced. I understand that the decision might not be popular within a small section of our community, but at the end of the day the primary concern is to ensure that this forum is a welcoming and constructive area for both existing and potential new members and ensures less headaches of our tireless forum moderators

That all being said, thank you for voicing your opinions and sharing your feelings with us. We’ve been listening, and we've answered the best we can for now. Please refer to the first page of City Watch and FAQs threads for summary of Q&As and other points raised.
