Maybe but as I said, I can survive without playing it. I would just rather not have a buggy third party client on my PC. There is no need for it, you pay for and download a game instead of buying a boxed version. You then install it and play it. Why is there a need to have the steam client running in the background taking up resources that could be used to play the game?

With anti-virus and anti-spyware and such on my PC as well as Windows garbage, most of which can be shut down, I already have too much being run in the background. I remember the days of DOS when you loaded a game and 99.9% of your resources were being used to run it. I honestly think that if games still ran without Windows, we would see a considerable difference in performance and capability of games compared to windows based games.

My personal view is that Steam will never be installed on my PC. Therefore, is a game requires it to activate or run, I don't buy the game.
Seeing as Human Revolution required Steam, I think it's guaranteed that Thief 4 will require it too, coming from the same studio and publisher.

The console versions will be Steam free, of course. But really Steam is not any kind of problem, hindrance, or inconvenience; quite the reverse, considering it updates the game automatically. Plus you don't even have to use it; once the game is installed you needn't even load it to play. Just create a shortcut to the game on your desktop or whatever.
