In an attempt to revive this forum (which has been on life support for the last year) I thought I'd pose this touchy subject to see where you all stand.
This is a somewhat old rumor (5 months old), but it has not been disproven yet. In case you didn't know, the Big Two want to make it so that once you buy a game for a next generation console, you have to create an account so that game can only be played by you on that specific console. You can never lend your game to anyone. You can never sell your game to Gamestop, etc. You can never rent or buy a used game from anyone. I once predicted that publishers/studios would make it so that you had to scan your retina in order to make the game playable...it seems I wasn't too far off, eh? If it's possible, it even increases my disdain for publishers, developers, studios across the board. What's your opinion? http://www.osnews.com/story/25752

It's bs in my opinion. Not everyone can afford to buy new games all the time. I'm my country new ps3 games are $400 which is approximately $67 United States Dollars. If I get it 2nd hand it's better.
This is just another attempt for them to make more money and sell more of their stock.

IMO. one of the quickest ways to lose your customers and great news for pirates who will no doubt be rubbing their hands at the prospect of more sales of cracked pirate versions.
With most shops not accepting returns of PC games due to piracy issues, there is no other way to offload games that will not work on your PC. Mistakes can be made, especially by well meaning grandparents buying a birthday or Christmas present but, once bought, it cannot be returned for a refund. However, under the terms of the UK Sale of Goods Act, "Good must be fit for the purpose they are bought." In other words, a PC game must be able to play on a PC and if it can't, you should be able to return it for a full refund. Not breaking the plastic wrapping is not the answer, a younger child may be too eager to play the game to read the small print first. I am sure there is a similar customer protection law in the USA and other Western countries where goods are not sold on the basis of "caveat emptor" (buyer beware) and the seller must be held accountable for what they advertise and sell. Especially when it comes to games that are activated over the internet since, not all homes in the UK have internet. This applies more so to third world countries who can't afford internet in their own homes and rely on internet cafes to access it. With more and more games requiring internet access to activate it and being unable to re-sell, the only answer for the customer is not to buy it, using pirated versions instead. As a customer who had their fingers burned with Ion Storms release, Diakatana, I honestly believe that all software should be sold on the basis of being able to return it for a full refund if you are not satisfied. Also, with so many games being released when they are full of known bugs, it makes the whole prospect of piracy as a "try before you buy" system much more understandable.

I personally don't buy used games, but I think that this is absolutley ridiculous. If some people would rather not spend the money on a new game, whether they can afford it or not, they reserve the right to buy it used. I used to rent games, but that was the days when Blockbuster was still around. And I lend games to my friends all the time. This is just absolutley absurd, and can not happen.

If you ever got a "used" CD with a big bloody bugger on it you'd be pissed too. The cheap games suck anyway.

I sure hope they don't, this sounds horrible. Of course, if they do, everyone can just jump on over to Nintendo instead and those idiot publishers can just lose out on the sales. I mean, doesn't pretty much everyone lend games to friends at times? And I also like to buy used games at times because they're just cheaper that way. It's bad enough that now there are games like Diablo 3 that actually require you to be online just to play.

Just because they're releasing the Ferrari F70 doesn't mean I'LL rush out and buy one! Plus that's probably BS. How would you sell it!? They said themselves that they float a lot of BS to throw you off.
PS4 WILL BE out OCTOBER 14-15?, 2013 ! LOL. Nintendo Wii U will be out Nov. 18, 2012. Xbox Loop-Infinity; 2013-15? People are going to buy Wii U anyway.

Absolutely horrible idea. If you buy a game, you should be able to do with it as you please. As long as it's not illegal to borrow something you own to a friend or sell it, console companies should not try to weasel their way into blocking something that is perfectly legal and morally upright.
It would likely only cause more friction between company and consumer.
