More info from tombraiderchronicles.com
My take: If it ain't ready, the bad press from a buggy game will exceed the economic damage of releasing it late for Christmas. If it's a good game, it will sell for quite some time. Neither option is particularly good. Oh well, what will be will be. |

alright guys seriously... everyones negativity is really starting to get me pissed off. i dont think tomb raider will be late because they all know how damaging it can be to the company and the game itself. im sure everyone is working 24/7 to make sure it will be out in time.
In the defense of core/eidos... they never officially said it would be out the 15th, the 17th, or the 19th... they never officially announced a release date. everyone has just assumed it would be out at its usual time (amazon, electronics boutique, psm, THE PUBLIC). Everyone just needs to chill out and see what happens... stop assuming!!!!!! and davej... i mean no disrespect... but why do you think you know better than everyone else does??? i also happen to know a lot about games and only on rare occassions is a game delayed to such an extreme. theyve been working on this game for 2 1/2 years... in core I trust |

And how long has 'Duke Nukem Forever' been in production? And how overdue is it now? I'm just being a realist. If it comes out in November and is bug free, I'll leap higher than anyone with a mighty 'Yeehaa'...but I'm not getting myself worked up over something that may not happen.

I hope that Duke goes back to the original first or third person perspective cuz I sure didn't like the Manhattan Project in a 20 yr old style arcade game. The graphics were great tho. This is why it's important for Demo's to come out before the game does. Many dealers won't give your money back if your not satisfied. |

Everybody QUIT THINKING SO NEGITIVELY! We've been waiting for this for 2 years! How could anything stop AOD to come out now???? Let's for once just think more positive and maybe, JUST MAYBE, AOD will come out without any problems.
By the way I've been told that it'll come out November 5, if it doesn't what will the companies will have to say to the people who already preordered it???? That would also mean that companies who preorders AOD will lose alot of money!

It's better the game is done right rather than rushing it out (i.e. Chronicles). The same is being done with games like Emperor's Tomb and Galleon (both originally scheduled to come out before Christmas). Frankly with other great titles like Metroid Prime and Tiger Woods coming out next month I'll have plenty to keep me occupied.

2 - 2 1/2 years isn't really a long time for a new game to be developed from scratch.
People have gotten so used to TR games coming out once a year that they see 2 years as plenty of time for the new one to have been produced. Not so. 3-4 (even 5) years isn't un-heard of. This is a whole new engine, remember....there is nothing from the old way of making TR games that can be utilised in AoD. Something else I based my thoughts on.... |

We've just got word that Eidos is expected to make an announcement shortly on the release of Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Angel Of Darkness, specifically which side of Christmas the game will make it's debut, so we're all waiting with baited breath..
I totally agree with John Carter on this one, Eidos does not need another Tomb Raider episode riddled with bugs. All good things to those who wait. M. |

If this high-anticipated game is only a little buggy, then I will be very disappointed and probably quit playing them.

I know sometimes we have to be patient. But, I just don't get it.
How come they say it'll come on November then all the sudden on the very last minute change their minds and say now it'll come in December?

Because its not finished and/or ready to be released probably.
I hardly think they would delay it just for a laugh. |

I guess.
But instead of saying, "It'll be released sometime at November," they should say "It might be released sometime at November." This is so nobody will let their guard off. |

From PC Zone's site:
TOMB RAIDER SLIP FEARS GROW Intense speculation over the status of the latest Tomb Raider game is mounting, with Eidos on the verge of an announcement With the official release date of November 15 now less than a month away, fears are growing that Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness will miss the mark and slip into 2003. As we recently revealed a slip has been on the cards for some time, with practically zero PR on the game and no code released to journalists - highly unusual for a title of this magnitude. British broadsheet The Sunday Telegraph has now reported over the weekend that the game will miss its date, with the title yet to be submitted to Sony for approval. The Telegraph is basing its claim on the fact that the submission process takes 3-4 weeks, with releases supposedly in around four weeks' time. It is rumoured that Eidos may be locked in negotiations with Sony to fast-track the title through the submissions process in order to get the game out on time. From the disappointing reactions to the title from its only public display at last month's PlayStation Experience in London, it may well be in Eidos's interest to hold off on release to give developer Core Design more time to work on it. Furthermore, with big titles like TimeSplitters 2 and Hitman 2 also just out, Eidos is still expected to perform well this Christmas. However, with the city reportedly getting twitchy over whether or not Lara will make it out this side of Christmas, Eidos' hand could well be forced. An an announcement one way or the other is expected soon. We'll keep you full up-to-date on the situation. |

MAN! Why don't Core/Eidos just say the game is coming out sometime this year or beginning of next year. I mean what we have to go through if this thing ends up on sony ps3 then I will really crack it cause I brought the ps2 to play it on.

Never believe the release date until the game box is in your hand.
Just relax people.

And not a preview game box that they often have in stores a few weeks before the release

just about 100% of the time, you can count on games never being released on their announced date. it's been the same since the first video game and will be so for the last.
i'm even tempted to think that eidos had a pretty good idea that it wouldn't be ready upon the date they had previously annouced. i say this because they can not let the whole tomb raider lara croft momentum wear out. so they keep getting everyone hyped up by giving them a release date that isn't too far away so everyone waits, the suspense builds, but once that date is neared, then they back out on their word, adding even MORE to the suspense. think: if they had first told all of us that the game would be released in feb. of 2003 back when the game was first announced in i think 2000, many people would find that too long of a wait and would just move on past tomb raider to other games coming out, causing eidos to lose customers. by feinting like this, they get you hooked to the game before it's even release though suspence. at least that's just my two cents.

Interesting theory, but unlikely methinks. We're talking a difference of 3 months....not 3 years.
