Default System Requirements

My apologies if this has already been posted, but I could not make the search button work.

Does anyone know what the estimated system requirements for the PC version of Battlestations: Pacific will be?

I hope my 8400GS can handle it :/

Yes a Forum is already set up but this is fine.

Your 8400 would probably run it on medium with the water quality on low.

We don't know system requirments yet, but my guess is.
Dual Core or higher
2 Gigs Ram
256mb bare minimum 512mb preferred graphics card

If you have the money her is good budget graphics card you could get

WOW! That is a cheap card.

Is it better than 8400?

My 8400 is 512MB DDR2.

I have Single Core 2.4Ghz AMD Athlon 64 Core Processor

2GB DDR PC3200 RAM

NVIDIA by EVGA Geforce 8400GS 512MB DDR2 VRAM

Would That 3450 Radeon be able to run the game on high?

O and where is the thread that was already started?

Yah it has a faster core clock than the 8400.

Your processor is the big problem not your graphics card.

I can assure you that one will not run BSP

Are you shure it isn't dual core?

Processor isnt even as important as the GPU. Yes it's a single-core, this computer was made in the age where dual-core was the new and expensive thing.

I play games like Battlefield2142 and World In Conflict with this processor and the 8400. 2142 on meduim-high, world in conflict low-meduim. both get an average of around 30-60fps with that.

So I don't see why a 2.4Ghz single core woulden't be able to run this. I guess the water is realy why you need a better processor?

So you mean I can't even run this game with my processor?

Water and Explosions all gpu. AI control, flying, and physics all cpu.

I surisously doubt you can run the game with that cpu

However, when we do get the offical specs that is the only way to know.

So don't let your hopes down yet. And besides if you have a intel base board a 3.2ghz pentium 4 is like 40 bucks.

This is my mobo

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...oduct=3184153#

It's a Socket 939. Think you could find a good dual core for it under $90?

Owww Sorry dude socket 939 is discontinued.
So basically what happened was AM2 took S939 out back, with a rifle in hand and next thing you hear is a gun blast. AM2 says that S939 is now on a happy farm with all the other sockets that have been "retired".
Your best bet is ebay you can probably find them pretty easy i keep looking for one any anyway.

Gah, I found a better one at 3btech.com, and I don't like using used stuff anyway.

Besides I don't know how to install a Processor, is the fan a part of the processor? I never figured out where is the physical processor? Just that little chip thats like a 2 inch square is the entire processor?

Oh and what is Heat Sink

http://search.store.yahoo.net/cgi-bi...t/nsearch.html

Their Site has mixed reviews but mostly positive.

What does the number after the processor speed name mean. Like AMD Athlon 64 X2 "4800+", what does the 4800+ mean?

Thanks for your interest though I Realy appreciate it. Now since im a 14-year old child with $200 worth of old games and stuff that I can sell on Ebay I need to find if I can sell that stuff to buy the processor and miraculously install it.

If you found a better one good for you! Just make shure it is a socket 939.

The number is just the model number. 4800+ means is an updated version of the 4800 version

The heat sink is the large finned metal thing with a fan on it. This is included with the processor unless you get the OEM version. That version just comes without the heat sink. Yes the processor is the little silver thing it sits under the heat sink.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prcd2...eature=related

There is a nice video showing how to install a cpu

P.S. you don't any antstaic braclet, just touch some metal before you start working.

Cool

Thanks a Bunch. Yeah I got some experience installing RAM, GPU, and PSU because I upgraded my PC. Originally it was like 6150LE integrated card and 1GB Ram. A little outdated by today's standards but w/e a little upgrading and it's fine

Now the Specs on the processor on that site says:

"Please note that the AMD Athlon 64 processor comes in 754, 939, and 940 pin (AM2) configurations. Please be sure that you select a processor that is compatible with your motherboard. Opened Retail Box Processors cannot be returned due to compatibility concerns"

Does that mean that this Processor can work with Socket 754, Socket 939 (For my Motherboard) And 940 pin? What does the 940 pin mean?

Thanks again for your help, I appreciate it, and I'm learning things along the way

And If I get a CPU without the Heatsink and Fan, I can just use the new processor with my stock Heatsink and Fan?

No socket 939 means that the cpu has 939 little pins, so 747 has 747 pins and so one. Only 939 cpus go in 939 mother boards.

And yes you can use you original heat sink, or buy a new for better cooling they are pretty cheap.

Ok Thanks so much for clearing that up. Now all you need to do is teach me how to sell stuff on eBay so I can buy it! :P

Na I think I will have someone install it for me, I heard you have to update BIOS, and theres the possibility the CPU will stick to the seal, and the cleaning, and the risk, and putting those clips or screwes correctly and blah blah blah. I hope CC does it :/

Yeah CircuitCity

BestBuy is a bunch of low life overpriced idiots.

Lol, they charge way too much for their stuff, and their geek squad sucks, and I don't think they even offer installation.

Circuit City charges stuff for decent prices and hav various services like ram and PSU and GPU installation, setups and other things.

I'm gonna check if they can install the CPU for me.

Yeah installing the CPU isn't too hard I'm just worried I'm gonna damage something.

I have a P4 2.66 GHz CPU with 1 gig of RAM and a geforce 8500GT 256 mb. Would these specs work for BSP?

These are tricky question since a lot depends on your expectation about the level of the graphic detail and screen resolution.

Short answer is that most probably it will work - at least on the lowest resolution and detail level.

Me thinks maybe I buy new CPU or vid card before the game comes out. But I would like the official system requirements.

Hurry up making the game so I can know!

What's better (Considering they have the same vid memory) an 8400GS, or 8500GT? I heard somewhere that 8500GT is messed up or something.

The 8500Gt is fine and is the better choose. Make shure you have PCI Express though.

i don't want to show off

just wanna play the game with best detail cause i love BSM and BSP

i'm also scared that games released these days must have 8800GT to see best detail

is 9800gt the best graphics card?
