Unhappy Direct3d error!! please help

Hi, I've just installed the game but can't pay it for more than a few seconds! I get a windows error message box that pops up and says:

Direct3D ERROR ERROR: 8876017c

Anyone have any ideas? I have a 9700Pro with the latest drivers installed.

Specs:

Athlon XP 2600+
Radeon 9700Pro
60GB HD
768MB DDR RAM
Chaintech Zenith 7jns mobo
Onboard sound.

Cheers:

Hmm very strange, i've got a 9700pro in my pc here and it runs fine. Could you try running dxdiag and do all the `Test Direct3D` tests under the `display` tab. Report back if everything worked ok

Hi, just ran the tests, everything fine! although it does say
that....AGP Texture Accelleration is not available??? whatever that means?
I used to have Directx 9.0c installed I think it came with my copy of xp service pack 2 but I rolled back to 9.0b because I was having problems. I don't have any problems with any other games. Maybe I should re-install directx?...what do you think?

Right.. thats the problem, requires AGP texturing.. Hmm check your motherboard driver disc..

I know under intel systems its a case of installing chipset driver again, but with NForce2 systems i aint sure off top of head

Thumbs up

Hi sorted!! you were right, I just installed my mobo drivers again and all is well, and agp textures are now enabled in directx diagnostics. I updated parts of mobo drivers via the web in device manager the other day, that must have been what caused the texture problem.
Anyway thanks for your help, I'll now get cracking on the game!
