HELP NEEDED PLEASE with TR2 Golden Mask

I'm having technical difficulties with playing TR2 Golden Mask levels. The darn thing just won't play! Am playing on PC Windows ME. First download was working perfectly, was going great guns! I was up to "Furnace of the Gods" when it just konked out! In desperation I've uninstalled and downloaded again (3 times in fact), have unzipped, etc., but it just won't start up. Yes, I've got the TR2 CD-Rom in the drive (I've even cleaned it!). I've got a little "shortcut" icon on my desktop and all but nothing's happening! Perhaps I'm doing something wrong? Afraid I'm not very computer literate. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any advice greatly appreciated.
