Thumbs down OPM:US Confirmation..No Legend Demo In April Issue

Hello, Derek here and I'm afraid I have some rather terrible news for you all. Recentely I wrote the "disc manager" of the US OPM magazine regarding Legend and he had this to say:

Quote:
Hey there, Derek.
Yes, we will in fact have a demo for Tomb Raider Legends in an upcoming issue but it won't be until May. I have played it a lot (gotta love this job!) and really enjoyed it. I also believe our editors will be reviewing the game that issus as well!
This issue will hit newsstands around April 11 so it isn't too far off.

The April issue is jam-packed with PS3 news and the disk has cool demos for EA's hot new shooter Black, as well as Okami, Genji: Dawn of the Samurai, Driver: Parallel Lines. Commandos Strike Force, Beatmania, and Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. Don't miss it!

Hope this helps.

Logan.
Sorry folks. I'm not going to rant against Eidos or OPM and say they dropped the ball, but I will say I'm just as disappointed as the rest of you.

Oh well, the release date is only 32 days away. I can wait..

People who can't even pronounce the name of the game correctly make me sick! Such a bad time to be an American Still the PC demo may be here sooner than you think

you should write him back and mention that it is interesting that they decided to put it in the magazine that hits the shelves on the same day that the actual game does.

As if I'm going to spend 10 bucks on that when the game is in the same store.

No, actually, releasing a demo after the game releases isn't "s*t*u*p*i*d". The point of the demo isn't to feed the hungering fans, but to sway the opinions of potential buyers. If the public plays the game demo as the game is out, the person will go out and buy it the next day so the developers get their money quicker.

I was hoping to play a little bit of Legend a few weeks early, but I didn't really get excited about the demo.

hmm okay. it's just that in my experience, usually demos come out before the game.

OMG! just my luck : (
1. U.K. gets the game first
2. Germany gets demo first
3. U.S. dosnt get demo until actual game release

Luck is not going to well for the U.S. = (

Well I was hoping what IGN said was not true. They said the demo would be out in May... So much for that. But IGN also said it only took them about 15 mins to finish, I don't know how good the demo really is. People could be getting upset over nothing....

Are you sure you really want to see it? I stopped looking at plot threads and spoilers several months ago, I've waited for years for a real TR game to surprise me and keep me riveted to the screen for months on end -- I never saw demos or read spoilers of Metal Gear Solid 3 until a frien of mine lent me his copy of the game and it was amazing, lots of plot twists and a great game... but if I already knew who was going to be in it and the enemies and what was going to happen in diffrernt levels then it wouldn't have been. I don't like that they even told us about Amanda, I haven't looked at anything about her yet but the thread topics themselves more or less reveal that she is apparently Lara's nemesis in Legend. Honestly I'd rather not know so the game is a surprise.

I have to agree though that releasing the demo at the same time as the game isn't a good strategy because the idea is to build hype and anticipation before the release so it's an 'event' and people can't wait to go get the game and wait in line for it. Releasing a demo at the same time might help with gradual sales if gamers stumble upon the demo and like it, but its a bad PR move for pre-game hype. Though if Legend is as good as we are hoping, then word of mouth will get people to buy it anyway.
