Default Ideas for the devs for a patch, to make it "feel" more like Thief

I'm actually kinda digging the game the more I get into it. It's not so bad as it seemed at first. I got used to the bobbing, and after playing for awhile, it doesn't quite feel so console-ish as I thought it did. It's fun, too, and the wittiness is still there, as well as the Thief atmosphere. It doesn't have the same "feel," but that isn't a terribly bad thing, either. It's definitely NOT another DX:IW.

However, there's a few things I'd really like to see changed in a patch. One of which being a mistake that they made in DX:IW and had to fix in a patch - the text size is for Xbox, not for PC. Why couldn't they learn from such a very simple mistake and just make the text normal sized? I play on 1280x1024, with everything maxed, and the game runs great with a Radeon 9800 Pro, but the text size is just atrocious. It takes up half the screen. Gimme a break.

That neon blue glow on doors and items is horrid as well. The subtle, yellow glint that we got from frobbing in the previous Thief games was much more appropriate. The only reason I can see for the blue goes back to the idea of "Xbox users have the mental capabilities of a retarded chimp." I can see a door or an item with just a fine golden glow, rather than a neon blue flashing sign, thank you very much.

Same goes for loot glint. No need for it. Part of the fun was finding (and not being able to find) loot for yourself. With the glint, it's very obvious where the loot is. I haven't missed a single piece so far. Same goes for loot percentages - at least give us an option to turn em off. That wouldn't be so hard.

Lastly, the neon blue arrow trails. Again, an option to turn em off would be all that would be necessary. Or at least a lighter, grey trail or something.

On a lighter note, I really think the game's pretty good. I wouldn't rate it "superb" just yet on that poll, but I like it better than just "good," so I haven't rated it. Gotta play a little more to decide. But, it really doesn't seem as bad as a lot of people are saying, and I'm VERY fond of the original Thief games. As for the levels being too claustrophobic, I'm really not sure what people are talking about. They seem fine to me. Perhaps a bit more "closed" than the levels in the older Thief games, but...I'm not finding em any less fun.

There's a few other complaints I have, but they're not really things that could be changed too easily, so I don't bother mentioning them. All in all, they're fairly minor...

Good show, Mr. Spector. You've salavaged your reputation from the dank "warrens" of DX:IW.

P.S. Taking out swordfighting was a mistake. I haven't seen a SINGLE person who enjoys the very simple hack and slash and pray of using the dagger to the original swordfighting layout. I know it's too late to change it now, but perhaps keep it in mind for any future Thief games...
