weird problem, cant find help

During gameplay in the trainer or the game, i get one message on my display but always just says message waiting and i cant get the next one. I cant even see what im supposed to do. I cant remember when i first played it if i was supposed to hit a button to get the next message or if they just went automatically. Any one ever have this problem?
