Default The Two Towers extended DVD

Gift set with Gollum statuette.
Got mine yesterday. Watched it last night.
Wahoooo!
You will love the extra bits with Merry, Pippin and Treebeard.
Also new:

It came with an extra DVD and book on the creation of the Gollum character.
I wasn't expecting that.
Nice statuette of Gollum.
The only thing missing from this set is
instructions on how to remove the statuette from the packagiing
without destroying the box.

That sucker is packed in there to stay, I tell ya!

Thumbs up

It is indeed excellent.
I didn't bother going for the Gollum statue set, but the extended version of the movie is superb.
Some of the new scenes seem so crucial when viewed in the body of the film, its strange to think the cinema version survived without them.

Faramir gets much more background, nice to see more of Merry & Pippin with Treebeard, and I was glad to see the final tally between Legolas & Gimli re-instated!

Watched the first of the 2 extras discs....some very good points made about why they had to deviate from the text when adapting it into movie form....gotta say I agree with their decisions.

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but you know I will.
I've been a long long time fan of the books since sixth grade
(read them around 20 times or so now - I could probably draw a pretty accurate map of Middle Earth from memory) and I gotta say that
speaking for myself, I have no trouble with any of the really minor changes
PJ made to adapt this fantastic story to the screen.
I am indeed a happy hobbit when it comes to these films.
The Return of the King remains to be seen, but so far, nothing's disappointed me.

Thank God I wasn't the only person thinking "how the hell am I gonna get this thing outta this box!"

The extended is brilliant isn't it! Makes the film feel so much more 'whole'.

Did you like the scene with Eowyn where she is singing for Theodred? Did you notice the big BOOM sound cutting her voice off! Sounded like she was locked in the tomb with him! :O

Thumbs up Woo hoo!

This will be under my tree for Christmas.

DEEK ~ Did it come with a free pass for RoTK?

They're having a trilogy marathon on Dec. 16th here in MI. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone to go with me so I didn't end up with tickets.

No free ROTK pass.
The Gollum statue offer is for a limited edition (7500 pcs)
statue of a diferent pose.
I guess the idea is to hold one in each hand and have them argue

LMAO, maybe you weren't suppose to get it out of the box.
I wish that they come out with this at the same time as the original. I might have considered buying it then but not now. My peanuts are spent already on x-mas.

I caved.

After getting so wrapped up in Middle Earth again, I sold my extended edition of TTT to my brother and bought the Collectors edition with the statue.

Question

Where does one find the Easter Egg?

Although if its like last year, it won't be on the R2 disc set.

I think it is on the Region Two disc, but it might only be the widescreen version.

Unhappy

Thanks for the egg hint, Deek.... but I checked and its definitely not on the R2 set.

I think its either a copyright issue, or a content issue that would affect the overall certification of the discs.
(The latter was true of the FOTR extended R2 set.)

For those fans in the UK - or indeed anyone who can get it - I strongly recommend buying the latest issue of "Empire" magazine.

It has an LOTR supplement with some incredible backstage portraits of the cast, each incorporating the Ring in some way.

Very, very nice.
