What you need to do is to use the extra box (off behind the other boxes...you'll pass it getting to the rest of them), and manuever the box so that the TOP BOX is all the way against the fence. Although it only needs to move 2 places (to the left and then to the fence), it will take some manuevering of the other boxes in order to do this.
Once you've moved the highest box to the FENCE, Lara will state that her legs feel stronger. This means that you LEAVE those boxes you've struggled with for hours no doubt, and head to the center of that huge area. You'll see two (2) crates on top of each other. PULL those so they are directly underneath the valve. Climb up the boxes, turn the valve (which turns off the poisonous gas coming from near the fence) and then return to the fence/boxes and you're over the fence!

And don't forget, once Lara's hanging from the pipe above the fence, press "duck" to pull her legs up, or she won't move forward over the wire. This simple step eluded me at first, leaving her hanging there patiently while I tried to figure out what was going wrong

Question

Well thanks for the help, but I don't understand your explanation. How do I get that 'TOP' box (I presume this is the box that's on the top of the pile) against the fence?

By pushing and pulling and moving the boxes....
There are TWO boxes off to the side of the "stack". Use THOSE. Remember, also, that not all boxes have to be moved COMPLETELY ontop of another box. You can move them a little, then drag the box underneath!
Takes some planning and a lot of time... Manuever the boxes by pushing and pulling them!

do a search for 'strahov boxes', you'll find one of the threads with a guy called finiz who has a picture of the final result.

If you just need help, try to utilize the two extra boxes hanging around. this will help in moving around the boxes at the second level which you should then arrange in a way so that you can move the 'TOP' box around. The TOP box should be beneath the hangable pipe.

Cool

Oh I see, I'm so used to playing the other TR's where movement of boxes was so precise that I continued to do so. Thanks for the advice.
