Sleeping Dogs is awesome. The fighting is sweet, graphics are good but the driving is absolute .

I got to play some 45mins of Dishonored at gamescom. It was only the xbox version, so gfx were meh(hope they beef them up a bit for the PC version) but the gameplay was solid and engaging. There where lots of ways to get to your target and remaining a ghost or at least killing without being detected seemed more difficult than in DXHR.

That said, at least when I played on Normal difficulty, beating guards even without the use uf powers was a bit too easy. I just had to keep backpedaling while striking or blocking accordingly to kill at least 5 or 6 of them with a full health bar and I even could have used a potion to fill it up again. I wish this was a bit harder like in thief for example.

Well overall I enjoyed it a lot and it remains a "must have" for me. Of course I'll try to answer any questions but tbh I didn't play it much like I was testing every aspect of it but was focused on achieving the mission goal in a stealthy fashion.

Sleeping dogs was nice. One of the few sand box games that know what it means to be a sand box. If only the map was more open.

Oh . Alan Wake is really tense, I mean the path through the woods is right there but there be a lot of trees around. Nothing like spinning around aimlessly and then spotting the shadowy figure behind a rock. For me this is skip a beat territory. I can deal with dudes jumping me but the glance is what gets me.

I remember playing FEAR and one of the teammembers gets the vaporising body trick. Or so it's implied. His vitals keep popping up so there is uncertainty. Skip ahead a few levels and I'm trudging through the identical cubicles of Armacham Corp. I hear Jankowski asking "is somebody there". For a moment nothing - but then I see him peeking around the corner in the darkness. I noped so fast.

if you've played Dark Messiah, how comparable are the sword mechanics? Of course a quick demo and on an xbox couldn't give you a full feeling for them, but a general opinion would be great.

It's been a long time since I played Dark Messiah, but the swordsplay alone felt much less complex. This may change with harder enemies of course, but fights with the sword/dagger alone against a single guard never lasted long. They took a maximum of 2-3 hits before Corvo ran them through with his dagger. I'm not sure Corvo can use actual swords(at least I couldn't pick up the ones dropped by guards)but mechanic wise it felt like there was pretty much only attack or block at the right moment.

Apart from that I only came across two contextual takedowns like stab from behind and jump onto enemy and press attack at the right time.

Of course there may be more sword related skills that can be unlocked, but that was the gist I got from the demo.

Why do you think it was more difficult? Is it because of the level design or the AI or somethig else?

And another question: Did you fight 5 guards at once or each separately?

Thanks.

I got the feeling that the AI was more aware in Dishonored. Admittedly, that isn't too hard when you think about the fact that you can TD a guard standing right next to another in DX without triggering a reaction. I think I fought about 3 and while fending them off I alerted another two of them. So no, it's not as bad as being able to kill them all while being surrounded. I did try to lead them through bottlenecks.

Not that I noticed. I can't be 100% sure though. Wind blast might fill that role to a degree.

Another thing that bothered me a bit were the controls, as in selecting a power and then a weapon to mix them up in a smooth flow.(Both categories use Corvo's left hand) I sure hope I'll be able to bind them to the buttons of my Naga in the PC version.

I was pretty interested. How does it compare to the True Crime games? That's a shame about the driving. Is it because you're on a PC, you think?

Extra credits is doing a thing on spec ops the line. I wonder if anyone else played it?

It has the stylistic combat and focus on melee that is in true crime. The big difference is that it all works better in the open world. Also you no longer solve street crimes because your undercover.

Driving is wonky on console too. It works, but only if your goal is to ram everything with the magic ram button. I wasn't able to outrun the cops once, also a lot of the early vehicles can't corner.

I am using a controller so I don't think it has anything to do with the PC. I love how you can accelerate with the right trigger button which makes it feel immersive because it is pressure sensitive.
However, it just feels way too arcade like. It's nothing gamebreaking but there is no skill required to drive them cars. Haven't played the previous true crime games so can not comment on that.

Square Enix pushed for extra features in Sleeping Dogs PC port
A publisher pushing for PC feutures???/
Square Enix is shaping up to be one of the best publishers, especially when it comes to pc.

Played and finished it. Gameplay is complete garbage. You have your standard hp regen and cover shooting. I finished it on the hardest (available) difficulty (actually there is harder but it is locked on 1st playthrough) and except the last level it felt like a breeze with some minor annoyances like: grenade spamming and if you don't move from cover to cover you die instantly. Teammate AI is surprisingly awesome, they yell out what are they doing, warn you of incoming dangers and assist accordingly. I was pretty impressed with them and on top of that they have excellent characterization so they grow on you. The best part is audio visual presentation and storytelling. I liked ol' hit songs they picked and ambient music is damn good as well. Sand covered Dubai looked amazing and characters get different visuals and even animations as they progress through the story. The story itself starts as your basic "Delta Force to the rescue", but the story in the last third/fourth of the game alone makes the game worth it. Overall the story isn't that complex nor innovative but it is so well told it raises the game's grade by a few marks.

Spec Ops WARNING! The story is mature and under no circumstances should you spoil it for yourself! The story needs to be experienced with the gameplay!

In my opinion it's 7/10 and a recommendation. If I were IGN I'd give it 10/10

I'm interested in what they have to say about the game and look forward to their spoiler-heavy Part 2. But I won't be playing this thing. And the fact they say again and again how much fun you won't have with it...

Maybe my standers are wonky, but I found the gameplay passable.

The Study of Stealth...

Bloody hell. The peripheral cones actually move according to the swaying of the head, not the direction the body is meant to be moving! This is wondrous!

The stealth in this game looks amazing. So many systems to exploit!

Dat lean.

Still on the fence about whether to wait on getting this game right when it comes out or not.
