Default Hitman: Absolution will have a first-person option... right?

Hey guys, new here.

I'm a long time Hitman fan, and I've always appreciated the option to play in first-person. I commonly will switch back and forth between third and first person. It added a lot to the immersion for me, and also increased replayability.

I can't find any information about the camera options in Absolution. Will we be getting a first-person option like the previous installments?

There's an official answer in the official FAQ thread.
Quote:
Q: Will first person viewpoint return in Absolution?
A: No. Absolution will only feature the third person perspective.

Not all the previous hitman games had 1st person view, so I'm not sure how you have been able to "always appreciated the option to play in first-person."

Hitman 2 had first person. Hitman Contracts had first person. Blood Money had first person. The only one that hasn't received first person is the first Hitman game, and that barely counts because of it's differing gameplay style.

Here: All games are third-person stealth-based, although it is possible to switch between third-person and first-person perspective in all versions except in the first, which offers an optional camera angle comparable to one used in fixed-camera adventure games.

I have to say, that's very upsetting

Haha, sometimes I'm so Google obsessed that I forget to check the most obvious places.

Thanks guys...

I take it Eidos is not willing to add this feature in? It seems to me that most of the fans really appreciated a first person option. Have any petitions been started?

Oh, and BTW I never played the first Hitman. Just Hitman 2, Contracts, and Blood Money.

I think they changed it because of the ability to hide behind cover, I think its for the best though

I just hope we at least get a mod.

I don't think it's for the best. Look at DE:HR. They could have used that design for the cover.

In the end I think that they'd rather tweak and polish other features instead of working on a first person perspective. This is all fine and good, but I for one will miss this option quite a bit.

Why would you need FPS accuracy when the game can do it for you through point shooting silly?

Just like Mr.ME mentioned, the new feature point-shooting will replace the old-school first-person-view, as it was mainly used to perfectly aim for the target's head. I honestly don't care if the FPS view won't be implemented.

In older Hitman games it still went to 3rd person automatically when needed, like when dragging a body etc. Hiding behind cover would be no different so it is no reason to have dropped 1st person viewpoint.

I just wish they would atleast add it for the PC version.

The thing is, point shooting is less desirable than a first person option.

It simplifies the gameplay. Ever since SC: Conviction, I swear every stealth game has this option.

Yes, I realize that point shooting uses up a huge amount of instinct, but still...

..I play Hitman because of the immense sense of control and realism. Point shooting is too easy. I'd much rather have a first person option and be forced to tackle the situation in a more realistic manner.

Point shooting does not replace the need for a first person option. It's about player control and immersive gameplay.

Fact is, if they added it, it would make a lot of fans real happy, and it also wouldn't isolate anyone whose not crazy about the perspective, as it's optional. They could fit it into the game just fine, and it would be a win-win decision.

I also like the option of having first person view. But If you notice in some of the game play videos, the camera usually pans over 47's right shoulder that shows a closer view of his arm and gun when aiming. You can probably control the camera by zooming in when aiming for a closer view.

While I enjoyed the choice in previous Hitman games, when I'm replaying them I find myself playing strictly with 3rd person view, at least on PC, I haven't replayed them for consoles for a while

Default this is really bad news for Hardcore gamers

Is not adding the first person option how they treat hardcore gamers like me? DEVS you have let down a long-time fan and Im sure not the only one. It added so much immersion into the game and character and it made the game unique.
BIG DISAPPOINTMENT

It is a shame, but perhaps for the best. Keep in mind that IO are trying to streamline the game to make it accessible to the mainstream audience. Options like instinct have been implemented so they can ease them into the stealthier options. Let's say you get two brand new players to play Blood Money, and have one play in third person and the other in first. I would be willing to bet that the one playing in first person would go on a rampage, because it would look too much like a shooter. Giving newer players first person is putting them in the wrong mindset.

You make a good point Molkifier. They wouldn't be able to make such a lush game in comparison to previous titles if it weren't for Square Enix's hand in the matter. More accessible, more streamlined, more sales. They've been working with a much bigger budget then ever before & I'm sure the development team has had lots of pressure on them. Its their jobs too, what brings food on the table for their families & such, so to do what's expected of them is legit to me. Personally I think that I'd enjoy the game more with a lot less changes from previous games, same with Deus Ex. Its kind of a sad story for hardcore fanatics but I'm starting to get used to being "shat on", in my own words, its the feeling that comes with this type of change. Its not anybody's fault who put in the hard work & has the love for this title. After working for so many companies with more than just occasional moments of feeling stiffed by them, after all the work you put in at your job, blood & sweat, just to come home & get griped at by your spouse for nonsense, after all the run-ins with random people who don't seem to understand how their chitty attitude toward somebody else can affect their already stressful day (ppl being dichs to grocery/walmart cashiers) & after all the changes you encounter, if you're a cynical prick like myself at heart, you'd eventually get used to it. & once you do, you maybe get tired of it all & just choose to look for the beauty & better things hiding in between it all.. For the sake of your dahm blood-pressure if nothing else.!!

I think it's time to realize that most stealth franchises are being if not already completely ruined (Splinter Cell) for the purpose of getting a larger target audience. I don't blame anyone for this though. It's just how video games are evolving with time and becoming much easier. So we just have to except it this way. Don't get me wrong though, I still think that Absolution will be a great game, it's just i doubt that it will have that same classic Hitman charm as before. No fps mode - that I can handle, but the missing of brief case - BRING IT BACK!!!!!!

Default No.

There is no more first person view, the first Hitman game that this became a known thing was Silent Assassin. Codename: 47 never had it due to the hard coding it would of taken to input it into the game. I, as a long time gamer of the Hitman series am not going to miss this as much as the great thing the had in Blood Money: "Weapon Customization". This is some I shall miss, but it's still an amazing game. The first person view was only created for the player to get more of the feeling that they were really playing as Mr.47. But this would be difficult due to the new cover mode. So it's not much of a loss. If you have any questions email me at "how2911@live.com" or "bhowe11@eq.edu.au".

Your regaurds,

Brock Howell.

I SIGNED UP HERE JUST TO SAY I WILL NOT BE BUYING THIS GAME EVEN THOUGH I RELIGIOUSLY PURCHASED ALL OF THEM FOR PLAYSTATIONS AND PC

I EVEN LIKED THE MOVIE... YOU FOR FALLING IN LINE WITH ALL THE OTHER DOUCHE COMPANIES DECIDING NOT TO GIVE SUCH AN EASILY IMPLEMENTED OPTION WHICH ADDS SO MUCH IMMERSION FOR SO MANY PEOPLE.

the game needs a "hardcore" DLC, with 1st person, oldschool AI and just old missions. Especially Hitman SA: Missions 7 & 8 the snow ones. Prolly can't be done tho, ah well, back to SA, as HM:A is not really replayable. I've noticed a LOT of fake/hacked/impossible to do legit contracts - they f*$ked that one up royal.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Dishonored are both stealth games that came out after SC:C. Where's the point shooting in those?

Ah, it's so refreshing to know that there are still gamers who think every game should have been developed with them foremost in mind.
