Did Ghost Hunter really scare you? Not accustomed to horror-themed video games?
I'm insulted!

I love horror games, i can not simply get enouh of them. But i was really really young when i first played Ghost Hunter.

Yeah Fear has degenerated to action fps explosion galore.

Started up Heavy Rain but not to play the main story. You see, you've got a real problem when your add-on, The Taxidermist, is ten times better than your main game... I've never given it the attention it deserved and only finished one or maybe two playthroughs back when it was released but now that I've seen all the possible endings, this counts as one of the most thrilling QTE-based scenario's I've ever played!

By the way, whatever happened to the other planned Chronicle Episodes?! Oh, right...

I was still dragging myself through FEAR3 up until yesterday evening when the game decided to perferm an autosave while I was checking behind a door for treasure. I died a bit later and reloaded my checkpoint only to find out that I was stuck in a corner between a wall and a door which I couldn't open. The only way to get past this was to restart the whole chapter. that, and while I'm at it, this piece of game.

Moved on and finished Ghosthunter a couple of hours ago. Yeah, not so good after all... Only the middle part of the game is genuinely entertaining, the beginning and last chapters are quite simply boring. The final battle and the ending are extremely disappointing and make you feel like you've wasted your time.

---

Echo Night: Beyond (ps2)

Survival horror. IN SPACE! And believe it or not, this isn't the first game that took the genre to space. I own a much older and obscure game on PS1 called Martian Gothic: Unification, but I'll talk more about that one later on.

Anyways, I never bothered to finish Echo Nights: Beyond. After booting up the game I saw that my last save went back to 2008...
What do you do in this game? Repair damaged or malfunctioning equipment, run away from evil spirits and complete quests & favors for ghosts so that they can find peace. I do think this is a good survival horror game, the story is intriguing and the atmosphere is dead-on (if not terrifying at times), but its the cumbersome controls and extremely slow pacing that are quite off-putting. I get that a space suit limits your ability to move quickly but, damn, even snails travel faster in space!

I think I'm about halfway through and the timer says I'm 3h37min in so I'll try to pull through.

Had my Clock Tower 3 (ps2) disc repaired. I couldn't get passed a broken cinematic at the end of the first chapter but now I can. So I've been playing this for a while now and, science damn it, this game is quite bad... The story's a load of bollocks, something about a ritual where a daughter's heart needs to be fed to a spiritual entity of some sort for it to become one with her, or whatever... Yeah...
Anyways, at first I thought it was pretty tense; being chased by a single enemy during a chapter, always trying to find ways to evade or temporarily cripple him. But then this carries on and on for all chapters. And the worst part is: this music keeps playing over and over again during those chase sequences. I'm on Chapter 4 and the chases hardly ever cease, so I have to listen to this tune ad infinitum...

Other than that, the puzzles are simplistic and not very well designed. The character you're playing with, Alyssa, has a few magic abilities she can use to stand a chance such as a bracelet to become invisible for a short period of time, a sigil stone that automatically blocks a single attack from the enemy and bottles of lavender water to lower her panic level. If she's in a state of panic and gets hit one more time, she will die and it's game over.

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is a video game developed by IO Interactive, published by Eidos Interactive under Square Enix available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.[1][3] It is the sequel to Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. On July 14, 2010, it was announced by IO Interactive that Kane & Lynch 2 would be releasing a week earlier than scheduled.

^No, really?

Anyhoo, I broke down and continued my Rockstar binge by buying Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on the Xbox Marketplace. It's still the same game I had on PS2, but the load times are non-existant! I mean, way back on the PS2 version, you'd want to buy some pants and you'd have to wait through a 15-second or more loading period.
But still, I think SA had the weakest story of the last-gen GTA games. I was just never into early 1990s "ghetto" films like Boyz in da Hood. But hey, still better than Saints Row 3!

Fallout: New Vegas - Ultimate Edition (x360)

Note: this is my very first RPG of this type.

At first, before I started playing, I was pissed off. Because despite having bought the Ultimate Edition, I was prompted to download a 16mb patch upon booting up the game. Seriously... They couldn't be bothered to include a patch for an updated version of the game, one that bears the title 'Ultimate Edition'?! What the .

Then I started playing and almost felt like the game was deliberately giving me the finger. If there is one genre that should have proper tutorials and an in-depth manual, it's RPGs... Instead, they only included a two-page excuse for a manual which shows the basic control scheme and a website address that redirects me to the actual manual. To experienced RPG players this might be acceptable but for a total n00b like me it's very, very uninviting and quite off-putting to say the least.

Yet after wandering about for a few hours trying to figure out what the hell I'm supposed to do and getting acquainted with the menus, controls and mechanics, I find myself enjoying this game quite a lot! I haven't even completed any major quests or missions but it's the overwhelming feeling of this huge explorable wasteland that's got me hooked.

I'm very anxious to see what else the game has to offer

I've been playing Spec Ops: The Line recently. The multiplayer is... ok. There really isn't anything bad or good about it. It's just there. The singleplayer though?...

Holy *** .

The singleplayer story is right next to Max Payne 3 for me. At first, I thought the game was going to be a generic military shooter... but god, was I wrong.

The ending man, the ending. Rent the game if you can specifically for the story. It's well worth it.

^ Admittedly, I didn't even finish the demo. However, I've heard a lot of good stuff about the story and not just from you. Might give it a go in a couple of months.

Got through Fallout New Vegas just now. This is one masterfully written game but I do not recommend playing it. At all. Why? Not a single session went smoothly: frequent crashes (at least 4 per session), severe glitches, bugs, corrupted saves ... you name it. The worst was when the game's NPCs got hostile for no science damn reason, this happened two times and I lost a grand total of 12 hours of play because of it. And yeah, I had multiple saves but when you're spending eight hours in an add-on chapter without common Mojave wasteland NPCs, there's little indication for you to know that the game screwed up the player's reputation system.

This is a fantastic game, but it's broken beyond repair. Still, I bought the Fallout 3 GOTY edition, let's hope this is a better game from a technical point of view...

---

Project Zero II Wii Edition

What have they done? At first I could forgive the controls but now that I'm two hours in and I've missed tons of ghostly appearances because of the wonky controls, I can safely say that this version is ed up.

I think they should've kept the fixed camera angles because this RE4 over-the-shoulder cam doesn't work for PZ2. It did for PZ4 because the game was built around it but not for this one. Then there's the annoying mini-map on the top right corner. What is this, RE5?! So much for exploration...

To add insult to injury: there's a severe lack of options. No Japanese voice-overs, no control customisation, no switching the mini-map on or off, etc.

Project Zero II is an unforgettable survival horror classic. And they broke it. The Wii edition is a crippled and dumbed down version of the original.

I had a similar experience with Fallout New Vegas. Has those terrible Oblivion face models and awkward running animations. If they make a Fallout game on the level of quality as Skyrim, I'll give it another go.

but in terms of grungy off-world futuristic shooter RPG's ... Borderlands will always win out for me.

And the worst part is: like a battered spouse in a sadomasochistic relationship, I keep coming back for more... I'm going to start a new playthrough on Hardcore and side with the Legion this time. I could've reloaded a checkpoint but I think ed up that storyline too much.

Just beat Spec Ops: The Line . If Max Payne 3 is how Dog Days should have been. Then Spec Ops: The Line is how Dead Men(the part of Cuba and Venezuela) should have been . You know......Heart of Darkness.

The gameplay is really remind me of Dead Men . Team mate down(you also can shoot them) ,adrenaline ,meele attack(why Dog Days no feature this),Psycho ,Choice ,multiple endings(awesome music).
Oh! There is a chopper fight and it's more logical than Dog Days' (imo the worst part of Dog Days).
Btw Brian Bloom is also in this game .

And achievements are all about campaign . It's really good to me.

If you finished the game ,you can try to read this.

Come on, IO! Snap out of it! Let "The father of Kane & Lynch" join story writing team . Don't give us a shallow dark storyline in KL3 again.

I like playing 'Clive Barker's - Jericho'. It seems dull at first but it goes co-op! Of course though it won't hold up to severe scrutiny of hardcore types but it's a good run.

'Bullet Witch'. Of course though I'm just playing older games till I get newer stuff. I just ordered 'Mind Jack' and 'Kane and Lynch 2'. I hear a lot of bad about the original though. Is it a good idea to start playing 2 without knowing 1? I know Condemned 2 left me in the dark like that. 'Bayonetta' IS SO STUPID!

Finally brought Siren: Bloodcurse. It was 15 euro, waited a month and it went down to 12 euro. Score!

I hate installing on the ps3, why can't it be like the 360? Insert and play?

I have a 360 and when you just "insert and play" the loading times take a lot longer and it loads in some games for 30 seconds EVERY 2 or 3 minutes!

Bevacur also has a 360 but I think he meant that he appreciates the optional part of installing games on 360, rather than the forced installs on ps3. So do I for that matter.

I got the ps3 version for The Saboteur to kill some time this month. The forced install froze up on me several times. However, it's actually installing the game while the progress bar remains frozen: it froze on 26% for about 15mins, then jumped to 64%, froze again for about 7mins, jumped to 73% and continued installation normally afterwards. And what a piece of crap this version is: the screentearing is constant, anti-aliasing is very good but then again the overal picture is a blurry mess, colours are washed out, framerate issues can be quite severe (to the point of having zero controller response) and it crashes a lot too. The only good side is that the Midnight Show DLC is free for this version. Nipples for everyone!

Got full GS for Silent Spin-off Downpour yesterday, I'll write up a short review later on, but I'll keep it short for now: it's still a bad game and it doesn't quite make up for the irrepairable damage caused by the previous Western-developed spin-offs but Downpour introduces a bunch of neat ideas to the franchise (such as the side-quests and the "ability" to only carry two weapons at a time). This one, at least, felt more like a survival horror game.

How are you liking Siren Blood Curse so far, Bevacur? First few chapters are a bit meh but worry not, it gets better. A whole lot better...

It's too dark and the controller is too sensitive. I had no idea where to run at first as that young lad, so sensitive i was literally running around that police car and died twice, could not even see that path way into the forest.

Got into the house and into that closet and struggled to find the back garden entrance.

The bloke with his ex-wife and the pistol was great. Something Resident Evil 5 should of been. Going through that mine, real tense music with a dingy flashlight only to realise i have gone the wrong way and get mauled by 5-6 shibito.

Now i am the child in the hospital.

Overall, the graphics are great for a game that is old, the music is just top notch, very creepy if only Silent Hill had that music. Honestly i can not praise the music enough, so Japanese are horrific.

The first person button is a bit annoying but still looks great and i prefer it, i bumped into that police officer guy in it which made me jump.

Overall i am loving it, dn't like the episode like style as each one pretty much lasts 5 minutes. And the sight jacking is kind of laggy.

From the story, i know the guy went on an assignment with his child and his ex-wife accidently chose him as her doctor for the area. About the other characters and the girl who teaches the lad the sight jacking technique, i don't know what the is going on.

I do like the super natural parts to the story: A town disappears then re-appears, demon possessed (i think) inhabitants and the red sky and moon which is very cool.

Today my ps3 slim decided it wanted to stop reading discs and start scratching them instead. Of course, the warranty has expired.

Bloody shoddy hardware this gen.

That is all.

I had a similar problem, my laptop gave out a few weeks ago and Acer wants 200 USD to fix it, plus extra if it's a harddrive issue. And my warranty expired just a month before it died

Man that sucks... I'm pretty sure I need a blu ray drive replacement but those things can cost up to 50€, and that's not counting the shipping costs which would probably raise the total to 70€.
I think I'm just going to wait until the Super Slim gets released. Why? Because those are top-loaders rather than slot-loaders. Yeah, that's a good thing in my book because it is impossible for a top-loader to swallow my discs. I'll get the cheapest version (16GB) so all I have to do is take out my current HDD, put it into the SS and sell my faulty system on eBay. At least that'll cover some of the costs.

Playstation likes to be classy, they were forced to have an optional hard drive bay on PS2 fat. Xbox is just tasteless.
