"(NaturalNews) The borrachero tree, which is marked by beautiful white and yellow blossoms that droop ever so innocuously from the plant's slender branches, holds a secret that few people outside northern South America know about. The tree's seeds, flowers, and pollen possess hallucinogenic chemical substances that, when inhaled or consumed, are capable of eliminating a person's free will, and turning him or her into a mindless zombie that can be fully controlled without any inhibitions.

Back in May, the U.K.'s Daily Mail ran a report on the borrachero tree, also known as the "drunken binge" tree, explaining how a substance derived from it, scopolamine, blocks a person's ability to form memories, and temporarily inhibits his ability to make free will choices. When inhaled or consumed, in other words, scopolamine can turn any person into a robot that will do whatever another person tells him to do, even if it means robbing his own house.

"The drug ... turns people into complete zombies and blocks memories from forming," wrote the U.K.'s Daily Mail about scopolamine, which is technically a refined, chemically-altered version of the natural, mind-altering substances found in the borrachero tree. Scopolamine is often used in Colombia and elsewhere by criminals to mind-control others for the purpose of committing crimes.

"Scopolamine is a drug like no other. Nothing can compare," said Demencia Black, a Colombian drug dealer, to Vice's Ryan Duffy during an interview that was later compiled into a full-length, investigatory documentary. "You could be walking ... and suddenly 'poof' (implying that you quickly blow scopolamine powder in someone's face) ... with just that flash the person is totally drugged."

"You wait a minute and when you see it kick in, then you know that you own that person. You can guide them wherever you want. It's like they're a child. You say, 'Take me to your house, give me your checkbook, take out your savings, give me your credit card numbers,' just like that."

This is precisely what happened to a woman named Carolina who was drugged with scopolamine and apparently told to rob her own house, and hand over the belongings to her captors. Though she does not remember any of it, Carolina says she happily gathered all of her belongings, as well as her boyfriend's savings and camera equipment, and helped load it up into the vehicles of her captors.

Carolina counts herself blessed, despite her losses, as many others have had much worse things done to them while under the influence of scopolamine. Reports indicate that scopolamine is often used for much worse crimes, including as a means by which to influence a person to commit more atrocious acts like or even murder.

Was the Batman shooting a result of scopolamine, or other similar mind-control drugs?

All of this information about scopolamine brings to mind the recent Batman massacre in Colorado which, as we reported on recently, does not seem to match the official story. Incongruous evidence and conflicting eyewitness reports have led many to wonder whether James Holmes, the man being blamed for the crimes, was under the influence of mind-control drugs during the incident that caused him to become the convenient scapegoat for a much more sinister agenda instigated by outside forces."

I saw DEMON SEED LOL. It was the only movie I actually sat through most of. It just captivates you to want to know the big finale. All the other are REALLY horrible. Like Emulation, p e h y u, are the movie reviewers all on vacation?

Demon Seed, the 77 movie? That one is pretty moldy I remember watching it on late night TV, before cable even

I watched Young Winston tonight. I always liked that one. I haven't seen it in years but it was as good as I remembered. Simon Ward was a GREAT Winston Churchill!

Title mix-up aside, I want to just say that I like Demon Seed!

It's one of those classic movies that really stay with you.

I actually watched it again just a few months ago. It's not as scary anymore as when I first saw it as a kid, but I think it still holds up in time if you can put your mind to look past the primitive special effects.

I recommend classic movies & scifi fans to check it out

The Killer Elite One sequence was filmed at Kappas Marina, in Sausalito California. On many of the houseboats I used to repair when I operated Sausalito Underwater Search.

Bought the company from Jerry Thompson who bought it from Johnny Weismuller Jr.

I just watched the Shining. Which didn't help my brain from the trauma of Donnie Darko last night. At all.

The Taming of the Shrew Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. The Shakespeare play in it's entirety. Great movie.

If you've not seen it and if Shakespeare is one of your likes do watch it. Great acting and well photographed.

I got some new movies but they're so I couldn't even watch. May be you'd like them; The Forger and some other Fighter or something,... Bikini Spring Break is pretty dumb... I'm still not up to watching Bill Bellamy - Crazy Sexy Dirty.

OH BOY! I love that movie! I watched it a few months ago. James Caan's house boat was REALLY cool!
There's a new movie with the same title but it has no connection and isn't as interesting.

The old one or new one? The old one, Kubrick's, is a MASTERPIECE even though it doesn't follow the book 100%. The newer one? YUK! I don't think Stephen King should be allowed to have ANYTHING to do with movies of his books

Donnie Darko
What did you think? I really REALLY didn't like it. I kept thinking there must be something more than the face value of the movie, there just MUST be a meaning or a twist. When there wasn't I just couldn't understand when anyone would like it. It must be one of those movies that people either really like or really hate.

I didn't even know there was a new one. And as I mentioned, my mind has been terribly damaged, but I like it. Kubrick may have been a psycho, but I'll be damned if he didn't know how to make a movie.

In all honesty, it could've had an absolutely mind blowing plot twist, and I wouldn't haven't noticed out of confusion.

I don't know what I saw in either of those movies, but I loved them.

The Ice Storm was made in 1997 but it looks like something from the 1970's. How did Katie Holmes go back in time? I was hoping it was about a big ice storm but it's just a drama-mama. Lol. You know people of the future will probably look back on the 20th century and think everybody was strange. They were too....

There was a made for TV miniseries on SyFy and the USA Network a few years back, staring Wings' Steven Weber (Not a bad actor, but the guy from Wings in Nicholson's role?) and Rebecca De Mornay. Made for TV miniseries don't usually impress and no, this sure didn't. It may be closer to the book, I guess, but it's slow, plodding, and underwhelming and the end goes on way past the event of the hotel... Basically, it's like the ending of Return of the King, only I didn't care much about the characters to continue on

The Stand was an example of one that was ok. Just ok, compared to the book.

Salem's Lot is one that's actually good, mostly. It's still slow-paced, as they usually wind up being, and a lot of things are toned down for TV audiences.

I watched Trailer Park Boys movie. It was a series on Canadian TV in a Canadian trailer park above Maine (or close to it). The series is in a documentary format of a camera crew following around the two main characters who have been in and out of jail over a dozen times. LoL. This movie was the great big end of it all. LoL. Sebastian Bach also appears in it and the band RUSH guy. To understand it and get into it though you have to watch the first episode on up. Have I already said this?

The Shining -original, was excellent. I agree with your comment on King.

The houseboat community in Sausalito was often used as a background or setting for many movies and TV series. The original IRONSIDES for example. When I had my underwater search and repair company, I worked on many of them and also inspected the underwater portions (surveyed) for the buyers and sellers so the banks would give them a loan.

The Red Violin Good movie, well acted but scary with an outstanding Hitchcock ending of pending doom.

Well, The King's Speech, I LOVED! But that was quite awhile back. Recently we watched Inglorious Bastards. My hubby loved it more than I even did! We watched it twice (well, almost) because we fell asleep towards the end of the second viewing.
