Hello, i got this error message when i try to start the game.

Fatal DirectX error!
Code: 15
Result: 0x80070057: E_INVALIDARG
The Game will now exit. Try starting with The Game / failsafe if the problem persists.

I have Win7 64 and a 9800GT, it was playing fine for 2 week then now i got this message , the same day my monitor died and i have try to install my other 9800 gt to see if it was that , since this time i cant play this game , but i can play battlefieldbad company 2 and other new game ,

My OS is legal and my game too !

Please help me thsi game is addicdive

PS: its realy anoying that i was able to play and no more now

I run a:
Intel Core 2 Extrem (QX9650) 3,0 GHz
8 GB RAM
GeForce 285 GTX
system and also updated the drivers for the card but i also get this error.

Fatal DirectX error!
Code: 17
Resault: 0x80070057: E_INVALIDARG

Anyone any idea what it could be or how to avoid it?
I can play till (well you cant call it play at all) i catched the guy with my PDA then it crashes and throw me on the Desktop.
And , of course, i wont reinstall my system for a stupid game.
Still in germany we can give back games if they dont run. God bless the laws.
Anyhow i would prefer an answer that makes me play the game instead of any other solution.
Maybe somthing offical?

Well i searched every possible forum now and did not really get an answer.. some ppl also told me i need a new grafik card... sure...
Anyway...
I worked it out (and strange i had this problem once b4) as followed:
I deleted the HDD content of the game via Steam (right click on it and delete game)
and afterwards installed it without the disc, just only via steam.
Restart afterwards... and see.. now it runs...
Dont ask me why... i really got no idea... it was the same for me with Metro 2033.
Both games installed a driver after installing from CD and never really worked then.
After installing from steam without a cd they work fine.
Anyhow... maybe you wanna try this way...
