Oh, so the general definition of "troll" is not applicable here? Because, you know trolls are really the people who deliberately fabricate posts that convey something that is bound to cause a heated negative response. The goal of a troll is to make other users believe that they are actually as stupid as the post implies, so that they could laugh at the gullible people responding to the post as if it's actually serious.

An extremely exaggerated example:

"I don't understand why Alaskans have the right to vote, becuase they aren't really people."

-The goal of that statement is to convey the idea that the author is a bigoted moron, and to make others try to correct him and tell him how dumb he is. That's trolling. The problem with enforcing it however is obviously the fact that it's impossible to tell with absolute certainty whether someone is doing it deliberately, or whether they are genuinely that stupid.

Apologies if I didn't explain very well, but I'm not saying that the general definition of troll isn't applicable here.
As you said, it can be difficult to really know for certain sometimes whether someone is genuine or just taffin' about...so mods tend to step in only when the poster actually breaks the ToU. That's the only thing admin/moderators can be certain of.

I was saying that I am not hurting myself by preferring to believe official sources rather than unofficial sources... and I'm very sure about this (not hurting myself).

My two cents. First off most I'm sure this was addressed. However, most companies have a NDA. Where they can't discuss things that go on with the game at all. Secondly, It takes a long time to make a game. If it's going to be any good. As a Game Designer myself I can appreciate the time that they take to making the game a great game. Though I don't know why the website for "Thief 4" Doesn't have one thing on it except a link to the forums. Even Diablo III had screenshots avatars videos and what not. I don't see this happening currently. I do understand that they are in early development. I'm not going to pressure them into making a crappy game that no one wants to buy. These are just my thoughts.

Sad fact, that im visiting this forum less and less, and still no news. i think it's senseless to do that, because when u see a title about discount on Steam, u have no reason to visit the community anymore.

I woulnd't agree with that statement. A god has no means of actually knowing that it really knows that it knows. A god could be completely oblivious to the fact that it has just been conditioned to believe that it knows everything. How could it possibly know that it has achieved the maximum level of enlightenment?

But it's irrelevant. Even if an ultra-god would have brainwashed that god, or created it to begin with, it wouldn't matter to the god. Without evidence to support that idea, the god would remain an atheist about the possibility of the existence of that ultra-god. If that ultra-god would in any way impact the existence of the god, that would already be evidence to support its existence. Isn't it ironic that by definition any god is an atheist? Because an all-knowing entity sure agrees that it's the most reasonable position. How arrogant and stupid a god would have to be to be an anti-theist, accepting with faith the absolute position that it is the only god and it knows everything? Not even petty humans are that arrogant.

And my point was that you can never "know" that you are "all-knowing". You can only have faith that you know everything. And this applies not only to people who see themselves as gods, but the stereotypical supreme creator god too.

Since my post was deleted when being moved..... let me repost here.

There has been alot of evidence shown that alot of senior staff have bailed from Eidos Montreal.... I do see these items as facts because those people are working elseware and confirmed at other establishments, i have heard no word as to this game being cancelled or anything of that nature, but when people start jumping ship, there is obvious problems. This was me doing a little tracking for about 10-15 minutes, someone actually be hardcore watching this have some more information on why they are dropping from eidos?

As an insider, my viewpoint may seem a bit skewed to those looking in, but rest assured, it is crystal clear.

As I detailed to the point of nausiousness, Deus Ex, EM's very first game, needed all the hype it could get. It need....what? What? What? Say it with me....slowly.....a...a.....a.....springboard. Say it!

Springboard. There. I knew you could do it. This very forum was NOT created for Thief, it was created for what is called "Crossover" sales. Why do you think DX talk is so prevalent on this forum? How come games from Ubi or Bethesda or even THIEF rarely get talked about? (and I'm not talking about talk from us) It's by design, let me tell you.

DX appeals to a huge market. Huge market = huge $$$$. Thief appeals to a niche. Niche market = small sales.

Thief 4 is a side project for EM....something to pass the time. DX pays the bills.It's their bread and butter...Their signature game.

But just wait until Thief 4 is nearing completion. EM will be trying harder than ever to wrangle the DX crowd into buying Thief.
