My parachute stopped working

I was playing the mission where you have to blow up the satellite on top of the news station for the Reapers. At the end of the mission, you have to jump off of the building to avoid the explosion, so I did that and then I opened up my parachute. After my chute was opened, a cutscene happened, and then it went back to the game, but my parachute was no longer there.

Now I can't use my parachute at all no matter what unless I start a new game. I'm about 8 hours into the game and I don't feel like starting again. Any suggestions?

Just extract and run. This will likely only work on the PC version, however.

I just started playing, the first thing you have to do is open your parachute and i can't open it lol!!
what to do?

humm when i done this mission it didn't alow me to open my parachute first soon as i jump a cut scene played then after that cut scene it allowed me to open my chute after not b4 the cut scene, maybe it has got confused with yours ?

The game autosaves, so just restart the game and use the last save, I seriously doubt the last save was 8 hours ago.

same here after the Satelite/News Tower mission, mine is gone since yesterday, even the option ( press A to open parachute) is no more.
I allready tried to restart, i have a older save but then i loose my 12%.
Any suggestions ?

I am have troulbe with this mission. When I place the explosive on the weak spot of the stalite it does not explode. I know i have to place 2 explosives but when i place it then detonate it it doesnt do anything. Plus it doesnt' show that I placed 2 oor even one explosive. can someone help me please. much apprechiated.

I saved the game after I beat the mission, before I realized there was a problem. Game autosaved right after I beat it, too.

The problem is definitely only in the two saves, because I can start a new game and use the parachute, but I don't want to start over again. I would hex edit the save if I knew what the balls I was doing.

Kinda off topic, but you place special explosives. You go to the satellite and then press Y and it places them, then you jump off before it detonates. (But don't open your parachute or else you can't play the game ever again)

Bumping aswell, since I have identical problem.
Happened after the dish-alignment/news-broadcast mission. Sadly I saved before noticing the bug. 'Best' previous save got 4 hours less gameplay

Additional info:
1: Previous save still working.
2. Tried going through a cut-scene, and a full mission, also a racing mission. All to no avail.

PS: Nice that free-fall -> grapple to ground works.

I have EXACTLY the same problem. I played 5 minutes of the game. The parachute simply does not open!!
I have reinstalled the game
What should we do?

You may want to try to revert to a previous save file and see if the same thing will happen. Doing this will identify whether the problem lies on the end of the game itself or perhaps the save file. If the problem still persists, we apologize and we suggest you try alternative methods of accomplishing your goal.

If you are finding yourself running into the same problem, it's usually because it's saved that way. Unfortunately, there is nothing we're able to do for you, this will require you starting another save file or reverting to another save point.

That sux. I have the same problem and it happened on the exact same mission. The cutscene broke my parachute. Been looking around all over the net for a fix the I found this forum.

I sent my save files with the issue to the guys behind the BOLOpatch as well as Gibbed. I figure if anybody can fix the issue it would be them. If they can figure it out I'll be sure to post whatever they did to fix it!

I have this problem too I am about 20 percent complete in the game and when I was about 8 percent done, right after a mission, the parachute feature in the game just simply disappeared and never came back.

This made me very mad and still does I can't believe that a entire ability to use a parachute would just fail and go away as if it was never in the game. I have tired so much to fix this but no matter what I do its still a problem and I have no way of using a parachute in the game which really sucks.

I hope this gets fixed along with the many other major issues this game has. I really like this game and see it as a breakthrough in sandbox style games but if the creators of this game can't fix these issues soon my game will be up on ebay for resale.

I play JC2 on PLAYSTATION 3 if anyone has a solution to this problem please help, thanks.
