You know, I still visit this page every few months or so. I always pray there will be something, anything that will give me some hope that this isn't Thi4f: The Abandoned Project. I wish they'd pop in and say, "Hey, by the way, this isn't vaporware." Or even, "Sorry, we're not working on this game anymore. Eff you guys." It's like they don't even care enough to put out even the most minimal of efforts. If this is an advertising campaign, it is the worst one I have ever seen.

Notice in the video how the person is able to observe the development of the product being made. After realizing that, consider that it's not about the time, it's about the lack of communication and the inability to observe anything.

We need to cut EM some slack. They're the new kids on the block with only one game under their belt.

I'm quite confident--98.2% sure that they have learned their lesson after Thief 4 gets wrapped up.

They will never again announce a game and then go silent for 3 years. They will never again be dismissive of their base (we the people on this very forum). They will, on occassion, interact with the public on the very forums that they created (I'm not talking about some MOD or ADMIN--I'm talking about the people that actually work at EM.) I could go on, but what's the point?

EM's marketing and PR dept. has been taking a shellacking over the years. They don't want to go down that road again.

Pick yourself up EM, stem that flow of blood from your nose, dry those wet eyes, the third time will be the charm.

How can we argue on a forum? Its not like what anyone says matters.
This forum is generating attention like what any other forum or website would do, ofcourse its marketing! I hope its research as well. Saying that if EM have a passionate team not just a bunch of people working for a wage they will have a better game

And when it comes to promoting Thief 4 "proper" (at the appointed time) I'm confident that it will be done very well indeed.
EM did a fantastic job with DX:HR and I thought the Sarif Industries website was genius.

The Sarif Industries video kept me watching to the end, so it gets points for that--I'm not easily impressed.

Other than that, I think DX could have been marketed much better than with a fictitious website trying to come across as reality. Perhaps I'm looking at it with too much of an insider viewpoint, but all I kept thinking was: what a waste of time, money, and effort.

2 tweets in one day from EM people suggesting something new this week!!! More DX:HR DLC? A new game annoucement? I for one expect -all re Thiaf.

Some MOD or ADMIN here at one time said, definitively, that EM calls the marketing and PR shots. Even though these mods or admin have never set foot in Montreal and have no professional connection with Eidos, we must take their word.

That being said, we can conclude, using infallible logic, that Eidos does not want to release info on Thief 4. Correct? Ok. I mean, if you want a drink of water, you go get one, right? Ok. Good. We're all in agreement so far.

Wait! You say that just because you want a drink of water may not necessarily mean that you are able to get one. Perhaps EM is not able to release info on T4. Well, seeing they have the final word. seeing they call the shots, the only reason they would not be able to release info is because they have nothing to release.

Hmmmmm. Logic says that that is not so. If, after nearly 4 years, they have nothing to release, then wikipedia would immediately create an entry called "Most Incompetent Video Game Studio in the Know Universe." I give EM more credit than that.

So, by the laws of deduction, when you have eliminated what is improbable, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. The truth is that EM simply does not want to release information about T4.

Logic dictates that they have much T4 content. E3, thee place to showcase upcoming games, was not good enough for EM. If E3 aint good enough, nothing is. They will reveal info when they want to..that is their marketing strategy...not what some textbook or precedent dictates. Its a ballsy move, to be sure.

So, we must conclude, that EM simply does not care what the masses want. They just don't give a hoot, a rip, a flying . Their first time up at bat was a grand slam home run in the bottom of the 9th, game 7 of the world series, to win. They got the "street cred". They got a big head. They got it all....and they know it. They call the shots.

They rewrote the book. Don't like it? Go take a long walk off a short pier..that's their stand.

I admire that.

True, though you must conceed that they have missed a unique oppurtunity to engage with the community.

The plethora of FMs for TDP and TMA alone provide developers with a fantastic oppurtunity to engage and understand the thoughts and wishes of their end users. Finding a balance between developing and releasing your vision for the game and the vision of your end users (in praticular the existing fan-base) would present an ideal oppurtunity to create a fantastic game.

So, whilst you might be able to appreciate their stance to date, don't over look what they have not taken advantage of.

DAVEHALL, I agree with you.

Although I appreciate their renegade-ness, I do believe they missed the boat on a lot of things. They could have parceled out tidbits of info or content or anything. String us along with morsels, all the while trying to win over a new generation of gamers. Instead, they sit idly by as the base starves to death, begging for a crumb.

So it may seem that I occupy 2 positions. I kind of do. I think they're making tons of mistakes along the way and wish it went more textbook (but that is purely out of selfishness), but I also admire their dismissive condescension in a weird sort of way.

Kyle had mentioned the need for a green light... and it has since been made clear by D'Astous that SE and EM work together as a partnership. A grand plan has surely been set in place.

Certainly, both Kyle and D'Astous have set foot in Montreal and have a professional connection with Eidos.

BTW, I never insinuated that the D'Astous never set foot in Montreal. I'm well aware that he is the Head Honcho. As far as I know, he never made a single post to this forum...I may be wrong, though. I said that the mods and admins of this forum have never set foot in Montreal. I play the odds. And the odds say that I am right.
