I don't know how you guys can play Tomb Raider on computer, I'm so impressed XD
I was so used to Playstation versions with a joystick that I barely can make a move on computer...
So that will be on PS3 for me, because I don't like pretty much Microsoft's joystick and prefer the Playstation home interface ^^
Plus, now games with full resolution need a really great computer with big memory and mine has crashed...

there's really no possible way for Lara to Jump on that another Stone with keyboard this's actually interesting , cuz i made that jump holding the A button only , and she automatically changed direction in mid-air but then i tried with X360 controller holding analog stick to the left only , but she jumped straight left and didn't reach the stone . try this out when u got the chance

my opinion is as same as adobeARTIST's , Keyboard's Good but Analog Stick is BETTER for movement and Direction . (im talkin about the Direction ,Not aiming)
Ah, just seeing that picture... !! I've recently finished that game, and it was HARD because it really felt like it was made for Xbox or PS3, at least something with a controller. The keyboard and mouse combination was really strange here. Though it was a lovely game

i think you mean game pad instead of joystick. joysticks are used for flight simulator games.

if you mean the older versions of TR, you cna play it with keyboard only. i also played the first 3 resident evil games on pc with keyboard only. no problems. the same with dino crisis 1. use the arrow buttons for walking, X,C and V were for aiming, shooting/use and running.

but since legend, it was so much easier to play Tr because it finally had MOUSE CONTROL .
for once i was able to enjoy a TR game were the older once failed in my view due lack of mouse control and bad controls in general. especially AoD. now this game was terrible.
hell, even friends of mine who only play console games, said that the older TR games have bad controls.
i played TR on the console and still had the same problems as on pc. but i guess im not a console person. so thats why M&K are more my thing.

yes, it always sucks if the pc crashes. but pc versions still look better then console versions. with this, the pc will always be Nr. 1.

@darkwood
played on pc as well and it was ok to play with M&K. sure had its moments were lara jumped in a different direction but was still ok to play. the mouse was clearly for aiming only but it still worked.
but dint like the game too much though. good thing it was on special on steam.

Thanks. Yeah I play games on consoles my whole life. I recently got interested in pc gaming because of better graphics, framerate and especially the mods. I will get a gaming pc when I have money. Right now I have to stick to my PS3.

In any contemporary PC game you use the mouse not just for aiming, but also for rotating sideways. This means that you don't actually use A and D that much, you move mostly pressing W and steering with the mouse. S, A and D are used mostly for combat when you want to shoot forward while moving in another direction. In 3D perspective you wouldn't have any problem in that jump as depicted: with you mouse you simply look towards the next platform, press W and jump with SPACE.

The problem with LCGol controls is that is refers to a classic arcade gaming perspective not used by anyone except for LCGoL. In the early nineties you played those games with a proper analog joystick, today you just need a joystick if you're into flight simulation. LCGoL could come with a great solution for compatibility if you could rotate the scenery with the mouse or analog. Having to strugle with that fake isometric pissed me off, to say the least. It looked like a great game actually, but I never completed the demo. I was not in the mood to buy a 360 controller for my PC just for the sake of feeling vintage.

I used to play my games on the 360. However, it got RROD two weeks before ME3 came out and I've been scrambling to recreate my Shepards for an import for ME3 since I won't play without one. Yeah, I've quickly gotten used to playing on the PC. It's actually better than a console, IMO. Everything looks better, runs better and it's faster.

There's no WiiU version of TR9. Only PS3, Xbox360 and PC.

PC, and I'll probably be using my gamepad for it, depending. Mouse and Keyboard for certain action/adventure games aren't always as welcome, to me. For some games, they work brilliantly, though, like for Batman:AC (and of course most straight shooters, slashers, or FPS). I'm trying to remember, but I think I could work a bit with it in Underworld, but for Anniversary and stuff that usually involves lots of quick climbing and vertical jumping as the camera is changing, such as the Prince of Persia, or Assassins Creed games, I find I a gamepad much easier.

Hm, now I'm trying to remember if I used mouse and keyboard for Assassins Creed, actually... Anyway, I'll see which works best when the time comes.

Keyboards were never intentionally designed for gaming. They were made for typing. And the first computer games were text adventures, so typing was your means to interacting, just telling the game what you wanted to do (move forward, pick up item, attack with sword, etc...). Then we had graphical interfaces, from 2D to 3D.

Granted someone found a way to adapt a typing input device to game interface, it's still founded from something that wasn't originally designed for interacting with sprite based objects, and later 3D models.

The gamepad on the other hand was specifically designed for graphical interfacing and control, from the ground up. It's thumb pad (from old d-pad to analog stick) is designed around navigating an object (mostly your character) around what ever graphical space, both in 2D and 3D directions.

true, but it works pretty well using the WASD keys. other buttons are close by and easy to use, wile you do the rest with the mouse.

but the earlier games of course, you were using the arrow buttons until mouse control was included. HL1 had it already and it took me actually some time to get used to it. but once i got it, i realized how easy it was and so much better to play games that way.

What's wrong with you, people? Keyboard and mouse are PERFECT for gaming. Mouse for camera and shooting, keyboard (w,s,a,d) for everything else. Isn't that more simple? Especially for FPS games. How in the world can someone be more precise in aiming with controller than with mouse?
