Question RROD

Does anybody know if playing discs without installing them makes you get RROD or is it (could it be) BECAUSE you install them and the HDD makes it too hot? I've heard the "dust" theory already. It worries me sometimes when I'm sittin' here and the DVDROM is going "BBBBBB!!!" I don't want RROD!

are you talking about an Red Ring Of Death from the Xbox360??

so far i know the Ring of death is caused by overheating the processor so the thermal paste between the processor and the cooler is vaporizing. which results ofcourse in less cooling and more heat. It is always good to keep electronics on a flat surface never on a towel or on a blanket and a few cm away from the wall/sides so air can flow past it.

i dont think it is happening cause of DVD or HDD

Maybe look through Microsoft support pages on the Xbox website? I don't have a 360 myself and am not familiar with their websites.

If it's just a problem with airflow and cooling, I would move it to a more open area and place it on some sort of supports on the corners, such as four, small pads around quarter size on each corner, just enough to get it half an inch in the air or so. An open area with this aerial support will give airflow to all six sides to the Xbox and might help. If possible, place near(or even on, if you would like) a cooling vent if the A/C is on. A few desk fans around the Xbox might also help.

The other day it flashed a RROD and E68. Lol. It works fine though now. Yup. An Xbox360. Freaked me out! I used to know these 2 clowns. 1. was REALLY into Playstation. He is an Aztec/Goth from S. America. The other was a Nintendo freak-a-zoid! I think he just played to have seizures. Ha ha! I just can't see myself or thought I fit in with them or they never saw me in their light.

Oh drat. E68 is another stupid XBOX360 problem about the hard drive. At least my console didn't blowup, haha. I can see why some people, like BLOWHARD aren't into XBOX. Xbox360 is some sloppy seconds. They definitly need to develop a new company with a new console other than thes ones that have been stretched out, old, worn and tired. You know this basic text format stuff won't last forever, they'll have to be coming out with holo-flop etc and this old junk will look like Atari2600. Haha!

Answering my own question; I installed some stuff to run off the HDD and this is what I get. Boink.
