I don't like the idea but see how it would be fun. It would be like dueling swords, daggers and bow and arrow. Co op would work but I'd never use it. Would it be over the internet and modem, thats how you could do it best. I don't want to see a split screen myself, the game is like a 1st person shooter almost. 8 eyes from NES was fun but wont work with the screen visual. Focus on a bigger world and more homes to enter and an outside of the city too and woods. The main city was to small in the 3rd thief and in the 2nd one it took you level to level. I liked the 2nd better but the 3rd one had better graphics but then I'd miss the main city part of the game and the freedom of travel. I'm confused on it, I'd like how you could replay from a completed part of the game. Its fun to go back and if the world changes, its fun to see the changes any time you want.
In death matches, people would just learn the spawning areas and the only weapon would be starburst arrows. The lack of weapons makes this a bad idea, the main character is slow moving and all people would do is hide in the dark and then you shoot fire arrows to light up areas. Hah got you!
You thought for a second there that there was a multiplayer component and that it would be funded by Kickstarter! However what if one such thing could be achieved? Has anyone played Thievery for Unreal Tournament (1999) (http://www.thieveryut.com) It is a great multiplayer mod and I have to say one of the best mods ever created. The small team that Black Cat Games had at the time really came together. So would you be interested in such a kickstarter? What do you think would be a reasonable goal for a kickstarter like this? Something like $100,000?

I don't much care about a multiplayer Thief.

Apparently you have never played it becuse you think it's a good multiplayer mod. Look at some of the game footage. It's just a total goddamn clustertaff disaster. Counter-Strike has more stealth than that nonsense.

Oh, believe me. Unstoppable HAS played ThieveryUT. ;-)
He was pretty good at it, too if I recall correctly. Thievery was probably the first ever multiplayer stealth game. Came out a while before Splinter Cell's multiplayer mode and actually delivered a solid, nerve-wracking experience, despite its many balance issues. We tried to run it in a lan party, but unfortunately my dual core doesn't like Unreal Tournament. |

In today's age, if you don't have multiplayer, you're missing out on a huge chunk of $$$$$$.
If EM is smart, and I'm starting to think they are, they will include multi-player. No, it's not all about you. It's not about making the aging PCers happy. It's not about sticking to the "Core" Thief elements. It's not about sticking to what is "canon." What it is and always will be about is selling as many copies of Thief 4 as possible. Delaying development to accomodate the next-gens (as next gens were not in the original dev plans), multiplayer, catering to consolers, breathing new life into the game and "owning the franchise", are all avenues to maximize copies sold. Accept this and we'll all feel better. I know it hurts, people, but it only hurts in the beginning.

If the co-op mode is anything like Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, I will be more than happy to play it.
However, if there's a competitive mode, players should not be encouraged to cheat or grief. In these modes, murdering or blackjacking the other player (not the NPCs) should be grounds for disqualification. Perhaps some game modes could have special rules, like no killing, or "only 3 knockouts allowed" or the like. |

Rather not have multiplayer and get a better single-player. It worked for Deus Ex, and that game sold very well for a "reboot".

But if they HAVE to include multiplayer, they might as well do it right. |

Certainly. Regardless of the games as a whole, I think Assassin's Creed has the crown for most thoughtful and unique multiplayer being added to a single-player game.
