I saw another similar post and saw that support said to start a new thread
Support also said to send them MSINFO and DXDIAG files via email I just sent the email to support with the two files attached JC2 crashes at random times Screen goes black and computer shuts off completely as if I had shut it down manually or just pulled the power plug. I have the most recent drivers for the EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 v2 video card It also did this with two other Nvidia driver versions I have tried letting JC2 pick the best display options and I have tried the default options Same thing happens Note that I just finshed Batman Arkham city twice without one single system problem and no other software I run has problems. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sytem info OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601 Other OS Description Not Available OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Name BUSINESS3 System Manufacturer System manufacturer System Model System Product Name System Type x64-based PC Processor AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1055T Processor, 2800 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s) BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 0702, 1/26/2011 SMBIOS Version 2.5 Windows Directory C:\Windows System Directory C:\Windows\system32 Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1 Locale United States Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "6.1.7601.17514" User Name Business3\DLH Time Zone Eastern Standard Time Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB Total Physical Memory 4.00 GB Available Physical Memory 2.65 GB Total Virtual Memory 8.00 GB Available Virtual Memory 6.59 GB Page File Space 4.00 GB Page File C:\pagefile.sys --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Video Info Name NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 v2 PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1205&SUBSYS_13613842&REV_A1\4&210A641E&0&0048 Adapter Type GeForce GTX 460 v2, NVIDIA compatible Adapter Description NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 v2 Adapter RAM 1.00 GB (1,073,741,824 bytes) Installed Drivers nvd3dumx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvd3dum,nvwgf2um,nvwgf2um Driver Version 8.17.12.9053 INF File oem33.inf (Section005 section) Color Planes Not Available Color Table Entries 4294967296 Resolution 1680 x 1050 x 61 hertz Bits/Pixel 32 Memory Address 0xDE000000-0xDFFFFFFF Memory Address 0xD0000000-0xD7FFFFFF Memory Address 0xD8000000-0xDBFFFFFF I/O Port 0x0000EC00-0x0000EC7F IRQ Channel IRQ 19 I/O Port 0x000003B0-0x000003BB I/O Port 0x000003C0-0x000003DF Memory Address 0xA0000-0xBFFFF Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\nvlddmkm.sys (8.17.12.9053, 13.35 MB (14,001,984 bytes), 1/19/2012 10:18 AM) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DX info ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 1/19/2012, 11:38:16 Machine name: BUSINESS3 Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.110622-1506) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: System manufacturer System Model: System Product Name BIOS: BIOS Date: 01/26/11 18:25:56 Ver: 08.00.14 Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1055T Processor (6 CPUs), ~2.8GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM Available OS Memory: 4096MB RAM Page File: 1492MB used, 6696MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11 DX Setup Parameters: Not found User DPI Setting: Using System DPI System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 32bit Unicode |

This issue has been solved!
I email tech support and they gave me the phone number for the US SQUARE ENIX support. The guy I talked to was really nice and helpful He said it sounded more like a power supply issue. So, just to eliminate the PS, I swapped out the power supply for a nice quality 750 watt model. I fired up the game and played it for 4 hours without any issues. Seems the computer came with a really cheap POS power supply Even thoug I was able to play Batman Arkham city through twice with no issues at all, JC2 seemed to stress the power supply enough to make it shut down under stress. I feel I wasted their time, but they can add this to their knowledge base if this sort of issue ever crops up again. |

I was just going to mention the power supply! Glad you solved it.
I had exactly the same problem with Crysis 3 years ago when I had a TRUST 570 Watt PSU. My PC would shut down roughly every 2-10 minutes. The problem was that games like Crysis and even Just Cause 2 are more power hungry. What this means is that your Power Supply was struggling to accommodate electric supply to all of the components. When one or more of the components lack power, this causes the PC to shut down. Had the exact same problem with Crysis in 2009 and all I had to do was buy a Corsair 850 Watt TX Power Supply unit and the problem was immediately gone for good! Since then I didn't have shut downs with none of my games. Cheap power supplies must always be avoided as they give inconsistent amount of electricity to the components. Plus they're unsafe for your system. You always need a larger watt PSU if you have a graphics card that is of high end. When I put that same 570 Watt PSU to my dads PC who only has an 8600GT he hasn't experienced any shut downs. But that's only because the 8600GT in his case does not require that much power, thus the PSU is able to provide enough electricity to all the components without any issues.

I was scratchin my head because I had finished Batman Arkham city with the crappy power supply without any incidents.
It was a brand new 6 core AMD CyberPower gaming rig. The price was really great, but they cheesed out on the PS. I had a 750 watt Corsair PS in another machine that was not being used for games anymore and so I swapped the PS in the two computers. The POS power supply weighed about 2 pounds. The Corsair weighed maybe 10 pounds, just guessing, but it was buit like a brick SH The other thing I swapped out was the Graphics card. The Cyberpower PC came with a NVIDIA GT 430. Not a bad little card, but I found a great deal on a NVIDIA GTX 460. The 430 did not need any additional power supply plugs. The 460 needed two power supply plugs and so the system power supply demands went way up. Both computers have been fine since the swap I got a chuckle out of the video card I removed from my old gaming rig. A HIS ATI 9700 dual 1gb card that must have weighed 5 pounds. The NVIDIA GT430 that I swapped into that rig looked puny compared to the ATI, but that little NVIDIA card really did just fine playing JC2, Batman Arkham City and Far Cry 2 with the graphics cranked up. Sold the HIS ATI card on Flea bay this past week, had 10 bidders??????? Last edited by EL34xyz; 02-01-2012 at 03:34 AM. |

It's probably because Batman Arkham City was less demanding of a game, needing less power which is why it wasn't shutting down on your PC.
The same happened with me in 2009 I had HD 4890 back then+Trust 570 Watt PSU. I didn't have shut downs in all of my games, just a few more demanding ones did. For example back then from what I could recall I could play Frontlines Fuel of War, Tomb Raider Underworld, FIFA 09, etc with no PC shut downs. But then in Crysis, Crysis Warhead, James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace it would shut down instantly. An upgrade in my case to the Corsair 850 Watt TX solved the problem. Plus it came with 5 year manufacturer warranty and since then I've not had a problem once. Never mind how heavy the PSU is, that doesn't really matter. Just a good solid power supply is all it matters. ![]() However, as for getting the GTX 460, I personally wouldn't have upgraded to the GTX 460 at this moment in time, as it's quite outdated. I would've gone for the GTX 560 Ti if I was you. The GTX 560 Ti is only 10 Watts more than the GTX 460, but gives a substantial improvement in the frame rate. And when it comes to price difference they're very similar too. http://www.hwcompare.com/8871/geforc...ce-gtx-560-ti/ Tbh, it doesn't really matter the weight of the graphics card/psu. It only matters if you're buying a new mobile phone. But for a graphics card/PSU the weight doesn't matter. In fact sometimes heavy hardware is better as they're generally made out of stronger materials.
