I'm less than thrilled with the idea of either of those actors portraying Kain onscreen if it were ever to happen. If there were to be an actor to portray Kain then I'd at least want someone who looks like they have a bit more life in them and forgive me for saying it, but a tad better looking than either of those two. I respect their skills and the works they have done, but they just don't scream Kain to me. I'd rather it go to a slightly younger and more physically able actor, who will need to be for action scenes anyway.

I don't mind the idea of an animation of some sort because then would could have the actors who had Kain and Raziel back. For me that's a great part of what made the series worthwhile was their acting and their voices for the characters. Although I wouldn't mind a live action film if Kain and Raziel were a mix of costumes and cgi, then you could possibly still have the same actors for the voices. Though it might just be more straight forward to make an animation.

Though saying this I'm less hopefull for a film than I am a new game. The Legacy of Kain property doesn't seem to have much interest on any front sadly.

I think theres tons of interest, the problem lies in the fact that its been 8 years of zero news. and absolutely no official comment on if or when a new game will be produced, and it has left many people bitter and forgetful of this great game series. However if there was any hint of a new game in the works I believe these forums would be flowing with activity.

I personally find that Ethan Hawke might make a great Kain. he has the right face, has already played a vampire character in DayBreakers, and has that... stubborn brooding loner look to him that we like in Kain. He just needs a little more evil in him, but Im sure he could pull it off.

I've been playing Legacy of Kain: Defiance lately, and I must admit that the idea of making a movie out of the Legacy of Kain series, or perharps multiple movies each based on a different game, crossed my mind. The problem, which I have seen mentioned in the firsts posts of this thread, is that the story is tweaked, things are added/removed, and in the end it's not the game we originally played. In my opinion, the movie should accurately reflect the series, or there shouldn't be a movie at all. Call me crazy or anything, but I would love to see Christian Bale play a role in the movie. Make him look like he did in The Machinist, and with a little of CGI he would be a perfect Raziel. Movie should be lipsync, IMO.

it would be a crappy nonsense movie, like dragonball evolution turned out to be, and the only thing connecting to the games' stories would be the soul reaver (the sword) and a blue thing called raziel

Games are getting to the point where they're better off as games and not movies. Soul Reaver 2 would suffer as a movie, maybe better as a TV series, but is best as a game.

Returning to the old topic and my previous post here. I still think that a movie would simply not work, so it's still theorising "in case someone makes a disastrous decision to make a LoK movie". I gave a name of the actor I would see in the role of Moebius but no other information. So some poetry as a sample of his acting skills:

Somewhat recently I started thinking that Hugo Weaving would make a good Kain if they were to make a film out of LoK. I can't remember which scene it was, but I was watching 'V for Vandetta' and at one point his voice reminded me of Kain.

Though I doubt he'd be able to do a sound alike to Simon Templeman for the whole movie, I still think he's a great actor who could both physically and vocally do a good job of portraying Kain on screen.

I'm totally against a movie.

If Soul Reader were a movie, I'd have to watch some anorexic (sp?) Actor, with trash bags for wings, a scarf that moved when he talked despite not having a jaw, wearing no shirt or pants push giant foam blocks around and pretend they're heavy. (yes thats one sentence.) Not to mention ninja turtle gloves and giant cloven clown boots, cuz I dunno if you noticed but Raziel has some big feet. And you know what they say about big feet... giant cloven clown shoes!

That about sums up the live action experience.

The other day while playing another game I noticed a character voice that sounded very similar to Kain's although not the same: I'm referring to the actor that gave his voice for Dissidia 012 Duodecim character, Kain Highwind... don't know who is he, but his voice is almost like Simon's... O_o

Eh... he's voiced by L. O'brien... I get where you are going, he has -some- similarities, but... its no comparison to Simon's Kain.

Never said that anyone could do better than Simon! >_< of course he's unbeatable and I would like the original actors doing the dubbing of an hypotethical movie (that should be CG made so not to ruin the atmospheres with wrong locations or wrong actors that don't portray the characters well....)
Simon's work in dubbing Kain is superbe and no-one would stand a chance in taking his place... Just noticed this similarity in... I don't know... the voice tone

its all good, i was referring to liam o brian though...he's good but no simon LOL...its the same situation with yuri lowenthal voicing alucard in castlevania(shudders)...

(i cant help that im waaay too biased with certain VO actors)
