Following the controls getting screwed for Tomb Raider 3, I started over completely apart from the save games. So I downloaded the XP/Vista Multipatch like I did before (to make sure the audio stays on-sync).
Every time before I try to run the game, the setup window pops up. Fair enough. But the game always - in or not in compatibility mode - crashes, right after I press OK. Always. It's driving me crazy. I don't understand why the game is acting like this now when it never used to do so. Can you help me and tell me what to do about this?

What graphics settings are you running the game with? Have you tried with different settings (Software/hardware)
What sound settings? |

What graphics settings?
Doesn't matter which. 16 or 32 bit. Software or Hardware acceleration. The program always crashes right after I press OK on the Setup window. Sound settings? Primary sound driver. Just the same as I've always used. I'm no nearer. Compatibility has always enabled me to run, and I've installed the patch before, but now it's no-go.

Does the CD have any scratches on it, etc.
The only other thing can think of would be existing settings, registry entries clashing with the setup/running of the program. (Perhaps it installed incorrectly, but I wouldn't think so). |

Thanks, but I discovered that I had to replace the tomb3.exe file with the one you can download from tombraiderchronicles.com. That seems to make the game run without any errors.
Thanks for your help, though.

Ah, well.
You fixed it in the end. Thank you for the suggestion, it'll probably help others in the future.

Because there is no regulation of gold selling and buying within World of Warcraft, many users are taken advantage of in the process. There is no
guarantee that a seller will deliver the RuneScape Gold she promised after receiving payment. Plus, the price of buying virtual RuneScape Gold can be decidedly high. Some gold sellers want hundreds of real dollars for several thousand pieces of Cheap RS Gold. Likewise, many of those who sell gold also look to victimize those who buy it by stealing it back using hacks. And, worst of all, Blizzard Entertainment isn't particularly helpful to those who are victimized after buying wow goldgold because it looks down upon the practice altogether. So, be cautious and only Buy WOW Gold for World of Warcraft after considering and understanding all of the inherent risks and costs. |

After some investigation I discovered that disabling the sound driver allowed the game to load (in my list there are four drivers: Primary Sound Driver + three others that seem like portions of a CLSID, none of which allowed me to play the game). A few minutes later I discovered that restoring the tomb3.exe from the backup folder allowed me to play the game without issues. Edit: I want to add that using the tomb3.exe from the chronicles web site didn't work for me. |
