Doom belongs on this list's top 10. If going by "great for its time and sometimes long after," my top few would include:

Starcraft/SC:BW
Deus Ex
Doom

Sorry, but I have to put SC over DX. I enjoyed DX immensely but not religiously

^ Talk about popularity, success and influence all you want, this is (supposed to be) a best games of all time list. WoW is a carefully engineered experience that seriously lacks innovation and relies on simple psychological tricks. 'Tis far from revolutionary or great. It most definitely does not belong on the top ten, IMO not even the top 100.

WoW is in fact the best at what it does, how unsightly that may be. It doesn't deserve to be that high up in the top 10 but it deserves to be in the top 20 at least.
